DSV - Global Transport and Logistics has officially started the process of merging DB Schenker into its business. DSV had completed the acquisition of Schenker from Deutsche Bahn in April 2025. 🚧 Investing in Europe’s modal shift: INFRA Freight Terminal Wien Süd is increasing its capacity by 4️⃣4️⃣%. Efficient, high-capacity terminals are essential for shifting freight from road to rail across Europe. ÖBB-Infrastruktur’s Wien Süd Terminal, one of its seven freight terminals in Austria, has now entered its final expansion phase. 🏗️ This will increase the capacity of the INFRA Terminal to 547,000 TEU by the end of 2026 — a 44% boost to its current capacity. Excellent news from our partners at Eimskip announcing the approval of newbuild contracts for two new 2,280 TEU container vessels and a ten-year time-charter through ElbFeeder, a German affiliate of Eimskip majority-owned by the German shipping company Ernst Russ AG. These larger and more efficient vessels will provide transportation services between Reykjavík, Iceland and Teesport, as well as Rotterdam. Strengthening and supporting the demand and growth of these routes as well as Eimskip’s Trans-Atlantic services, a core pillar of their service, between Iceland and North America. Maersk will strengthen its air leadership team this month with the appointment of Christoph Hemmann as head of global air and LCL, and John McDonald as head of Maersk Air Freight Forwarding (MAFF). Hemmann will be taking over from Murali Rajamani, who has already transferred to another position within Maersk. He will report to Narin Phol, executive vice president and chief product officer (CPO) for logistics and services at Maersk. Hemmann has over 15 years of experience in the airfreight industry. Before joining Maersk, he held key leadership positions at DHL Global Forwarding and DB Schenker, where he successfully led teams in Europe, the Americas as well as Asia Pacific.
