The insolvent German fashion brand Closed GmbH has been saved. The new owners are the Böck entrepreneurial family (owners of Marc O'Polo SE) and experienced fashion manager Dieter Holzer (former Marc O'Polo CEO). The successful acquisition follows Closed's filing for insolvency in August, which the company attributed to "excessive debt and the associated financing costs." Crucially, the brand's headquarters will remain in Hamburg. The new owners will unveil their plans for the premium brand at a press conference on Monday. Against this backdrop, Hauke Roggenkamp, Johannes Boegershausen, and Christian Hildebrand introduce DICE: Digital In-Context Experiments—a research tool that simulates real, scrollable social feeds to study how users engage with content in context. 🔎𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 Case Study 1 demonstrates how negative surrounding content (e.g., disaster news) can damage brand attitudes, but only when users actually pay attention. ⚡ Valencia strengthens its relationship with the German tech ecosystem alongside Hubert Burda Media. The city received a high-level delegation from Munich made up of representatives of Hubert Burda Media, its innovation platform DLD Conference (DLD) and its investment fund Burda Principal Investments (BPI) ✈ Organised by Startup Valencia, the mission included 👥 Christian Teichmann, CEO of Burda Principal Investments; Alessia Sinzger, global director of strategic partnerships at DLD Conference; Mark Fernandes, executive assistant & producer; and Christine Carboni, campaign and mobilisation director of the German CDU Deutschlands. 👉 DLD is a global network of events founded in Germany by Hubert Burda Media. Its flagship event, DLD Conference, is held each year in Munich and brings together tech leaders, investors, startups, creatives and scientists to discuss the future of digital innovation and its impact on society. The goal of this visit was to strengthen strategic relations between both tech ecosystems, open new co-investment opportunities in Valencian startups and explore the viability of a possible Mediterranean DLD edition.
