Nevertheless what we observe nowadays is a criminalization of users and a focus on the illegal structures the deepweb contains. Instead of developing a balanced debate, we are facing a fight against privacy and the Tor Project itself.
To improve the situation of scientists & academics over the world, who are not…The Tor Network is one of the most relevant solutions to enter the World Wide Web with the anonymity political activists and journalists need during their investigative researches. Nevertheless what we observe nowadays is a criminalization of users and a focus on the illegal structures the deepweb contains. Instead of developing a balanced debate, we are facing a fight against privacy and the Tor Project itself.
To improve the situation of scientists & academics over the world, who are not capable of entering every website without censorship, means to strengthen the Tor Project and the concept of a deepweb. -

Europe has the talent — now it’s time to bet on ourselves. When Sandra Navidi and I met in Davos during World Economic Forum, one question kept coming back: What will it take for Europe to build global tech champions? We continued that conversation on ntvNachrichten’s BIZ & beyond podcast with Ulrich Reitz. From building Europe’s first venture studio, finleap, in Berlin to now leading early-stage investing at Motive Ventures in New York, that vantage point shapes how I see Europe’s path forward. Here’s what I believe: ▪️ Europe has great ideas — but we lack the structures, speed, and capital to scale them. ▪️Especially in later stages, we hesitate to go all in — and when capital finally comes, it’s often not European. ▪️We should learn from the U.S. — but not everything that shines is gold. ▪️Our real strengths, like quality of life and global talent, are already here. ▪️Capital matters. But culture decides. If we want to build global champions, we need belief. Belief that we can build big — and the urgency to work for it. That mindset is one of the few things Europe should take from the U.S. In short: If Europe wants to become a true tech force, the time to act is now. And it starts by betting on ourselves. A big thank you to Sandra and Ulrich for an insightful, thought-provoking discussion. And about that headline calling me “Tech-Wunderkind” — it made me smile. ✳️ CDR is getting its own department in Germany's government ✳️ The German Federal Government is creating a dedicated department for negative emissions! The team will be part of their 'National Climate Policy' sub-division, according to a recent draft. But there's more exciting news! Two weeks ago, the cabinet approved a draft budget that earmarks: ‣ €111 million for procurement of negative emissions in 2026 ‣ €320 million committed for subsequent years This hints at Germany's first direct investment in CDR - hopefully soon replacing the high-risk, outdated CDM credits purchased by government agencies. With its significant industrial footprint and ongoing climate commitments, Germany needs to embrace CDR as an essential component of climate action. It's been great working with Stefan Schlosser at Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE) to contribute to the growing understanding of CDR's role in German climate policy.

This is a game changer for venture capital in Europe 🚀 Foundation capital can now be invested into VC! 🔥 Bavaria just did what many just talked about! On July 23rd, the Bavarian Parliament passed a breakthrough resolution: Public and private foundations can now allocate up to 5% of their assets into venture capital: via funds and fund-of-funds. Some time ago, I posted: “If we freed up just 10% of German foundation capital for VC, we’d have limited partners capable of writing €100M tickets. The capital exists, it’s just in the wrong places.” Now, we’re finally taking a step in that direction. This is a power move. This Bavarian resolution changes the game. It enables a long-term, risk-aware, diversified investment approach and encourages capital to flow into EU-based VC funds. Why this matters: 1. Walk the talk: government leading by example, not empty words. 2. Think European, act local: the resolution explicitly promotes EU-based VC funds. This is the kind of cross-border thinking we need if Europe wants to compete globally. 3. Long-term strategy: a serious, educated approach to venture as an asset class. No naive bets, but structured, risk-aware investing through the fund ecosystem. This is the kind of shift we’ve been waiting for and a signal to every region in Europe: you want a stronger start-up ecosystem? Enable capital to flow back to the ones building it.
