What if insulation could adapt to the weather? The ReVaD research project is investigating precisely that – with intelligent, adaptable vacuum insulation panels for building facades. Led by DLR Institut für Technische Thermodynamik, Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf (DITF) and Institut für Gebäudeenergetik, Thermotechnik und Energiespeicherung (IGTE) at the Universität Stuttgart, this interdisciplinary project could reduce heating and cooling requirements, enable heat storage and support the goals of the energy transition. The focus is on specially developed textile spacer knits designed to regulate gas pressure and heat flow. The interdisciplinary project is now entering its first test phase. 👉 Read the full article here https://lnkd.in/dhyX6byS Jonina Felbinger Leon Pauly

Natural fibres are often seen as a simple and technically unsound “eco-friendly alternative” to synthetic fibres. A myth that Thomas Bressler, Managing Director of the natural fibre trading company Wilhelm G. Clasen, encounters time and again, even within the textile industry. However, given the advanced processing options available today, this is no longer the case. In this interview, Bressler explains what natural fibres have to do with high-tech drones, why polypropylene was more damaging to the natural fibre market than all economic crises combined and how shipping disasters turned into business opportunities. https://lnkd.in/dXJEc4wc
