🔀 SCENARIOS FOR REACHING EU'S ORGANIC TARGETS: UNLOCKING THE FUTURE OF ORGANIC FARMING AND AQUACULTURE ☘️ The European Union’s Farm to Fork Strategy sets an ambitious goal: By 2030, at least 25% of agricultural land should be farmed organically. Yet, results indicate that this target cannot be met without structural policy shifts – as well as stronger supply chain alignment, and greater consumer engagement and capacity building. SECURING A PIVOTAL ROLE OF ORGANIC AGRICULTURE 💪 To address these challenges, the #HorizonEurope project #OrganicTargets4EU has developed four scenarios outlining alternative pathways to achieve the 2030 target of organic agriculture. Co-created with stakeholders, the scenarios explore both supply-driven and demand-driven approaches: - Two “Push” (supply-driven) scenarios: Green Public Policy and Divergent Pathways for the Organic Sector - Two “Pull” (demand-driven) scenarios: Organic on Every Table and Organic Power to the People Across all envisioned scenarios, four conditions emerge as fundamental: 🌱 policy coherence and regulatory integrity at the EU level 🌱active engagement of supply chain actors, particularly large retailers and SME networks 🌱a pivotal role of Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) in fostering a societal transition toward organic food and farming systems and 🌱trust-building and capacity development within civil society and non-governmental organisations PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS FOR ORGANIC AQUACULTURE 💪 #OrganicTargets4EU has also discussed different scenarios for organic aquaculture to secure an essential role in Europe. The development of organic aquaculture requires: 🐟 coordinated action by EU institutions and Member States to refine existing regulations, eliminating unnecessary administrative barriers while maintaining rigorous sustainability standards 🐟collaboration among researchers, industry actors, and extension services as essential to develop feed, juveniles, and health management solutions consistent with organic principles 🐟efforts directed toward consumer engagement to foster stable demand through education, transparency, and trust-building. 🐟commitment to fairness. Its benefits should extend beyond large-scale producers and affluent consumers to include smallholder farmers, coastal communities, and society at large. 📢💡NEW STRATEGIC RESEARCH & INNOVATION AGENDA (SRIA) FROM TP ORGANICS AND ORGANICTARGETS4EU SETS DIRECTION FOR ORGANIC AND AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH IN EUROPE The new SRIA was launched today at the #OrganicInnovationDays in Brussels. It has been developed with the contribution of the #OrganicTargets4EU project, in preparation of the upcoming European Competitiveness Fund and the next #HorizonEurope Programme (2028 -2034). The SRIA development process was highly participatory and built on contributions from OrganicTargets4EU practice partners and their national networks. TRIPLE WINS FOR SUSTAINABILITY ☘️☘️☘️ The main part of the SRIA “Research & Innovation Priorities” is divided into three lead areas, or “triple wins for sustainability” that make up TP Organicsʹ vision:  - Leading for the environment, biodiversity and the climate  - Leading for people, communities and sustainable livelihoods  - Leading for responsible innovation The final section in the SRIA provides key recommendations for policymakers working on Horizon Europe, including the European Partnerships, to boost the impact of R&I through inclusive governance. The third co-funded call, titled "Fostering plant and animal genetic diversity and empowering farmers to accelerate the agroecological transition," will be launched soon. The call is in line with ICROFS’ role in coordinating strategic research that supports a sustainable, market-driven, and competitive organic sector. ICROFS works to advance organic farming and food systems through research and innovation, both in Denmark and internationally. FREMTIDENS LANDSKABER MED ØKOLOGISK KLØVERGRÆS OG BIOGAS ☘️ I onsdags afholdt Organic RDD-projektet CloverValue workshop og markvandring med landmænd og øvrige aktører i biogaskæden. CloverValue arbejder for at give et fuldt overblik over mulighederne for at øge næringsstofforsyningen gennem avl af økologisk kløvergræs til biogas - og dermed bidrage væsentligt til at reducere klimabelastningen 💪

🐝BIODIVERSITET SOM FYRTÅRN I FORTÆLLINGEN OM ØKOLOGI 🦋 Biodiversiteten er under pres globalt set – og Danmark er ingen undtagelse. Landbrugslandskabet har gennem de seneste årtier oplevet et markant fald i artsrigdom. Samtidig er der opstået markeder for produkter med særlige kvaliteter og certificeringer. Men biodiversitet har indtil videre haft et begrænset fokus i forbindelse med markedsføring og værdisættelse. Organic RDD-projektet 4F har netop udarbejdet rapporten “Strategies for valorisation of biodiversity in an international perspective”, som indeholder en international analyse af strategier til at værdisætte biodiversitet og økosystemtjenester i fødevaresystemer.
