Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 finished today! What a great experience! Thanks to everyone who visited our booth and chatted with us about the future of smart cities.    Coming into the event, all of us at Milestone Systems were excited to announce the Hafnia Vision Language Model, part of our partnership with NVIDIA. We believe this privacy-preserving technology has the potential to transform traffic management and urban safety, and we were thrilled by the reaction and feedback we received throughout the event. Now we’re looking forward to the public launch of our VLM! Today, Milestone Systems is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the Hafnia Video Language Model (VLM). Powered by NVIDIA and trained on 75,000+ hours of ethically sourced video, the Hafnia VLM delivers precise, compliant AI analysis. Designed to help operators contextualize alarms and focus on what truly matters, the new tool automates video review, filters out false alarms, and based on initial findings could reduce up to 30% of operator alarm fatigue. When launched, the VLM will be accessible as a plug-in for Milestone’s VMS XProtect. Developers building video applications can also connect to the Hafnia VLM API directly through our VLM as a Service offering. This week, we’re showcasing the Hafnia VLM live at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona. The Expo is the world’s largest event for urban innovation, the perfect stage to demonstrate how generative AI can help cities, airports and ports tackle challenges like congestion, aging infrastructure and rising populations.
