A marvellous conclusion to a project that helped strengthen waste management systems in Lebanon! 🌟👏🏽 At the closing conference of the Solid Waste Governance Project — implemented by NIRAS in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and funded by the European Union — stakeholders gathered to mark the culmination of four years of extensive field research and policy development. 💡 In those years, the project produced in-depth studies and policy briefs that will pave the way for more effective governance, transparency, and accountability in Lebanon's waste sector. 🗂️ It also provided local municipalities and unions of municipalities with communication tools to engage communities and promote sustainable waste management practices, laying the groundwork for a more circular and environmentally responsible future in Lebanon. 🏛️ 📌 You can find all these documents in this project brief: https://lnkd.in/g95qgF3h Catch a glimpse of the event by watching the video below. 🎬 Nathalie Pano Ana Gajičić #SolidWasteManagement #PolicyDevelopment #WasteSector #WasteGovernance #SustainablePractices #Lebanon

We are happy to share that we are continuing to support the on-the-ground socio-economic benefit impact study on Offshore Wind (OSW) Development headed by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC)! 🌬️ Alongside GWEC’s Senior Policy Officer Juan Miguel Consolacion, our team is actively engaging with local governments and communities in the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod (Guimaras Strait), as well as Calabanga and Mercedes (San Miguel Bay). 💡 See the team at work in the photos below! To be used by OSW developers and government bodies, the study aims to identify the ways this renewable energy source “can deliver tangible economic and social value — and how to build frameworks for benefit sharing and inclusive growth,” notes GWEC Country Manager for the Philippines Ann Margret Francisco. 🧩🌱 "Through this study, we’re thrilled to engage directly with diverse stakeholders and ensure that offshore wind development translates into real, shared progress for all," says Project Manager Gianne Francis Alfred Manzano. 📈👥 NIRAS has a long history of supporting OSW projects, going as far back as the first offshore wind farm in Vindeby, Denmark where we provided geotechnical consulting for the project. Our activities in the energy sector, including this study, align with our goal of contributing to the green energy transition, which we achieve through innovative projects and partnerships that have the same mindset of attaining a cleaner future for the planet. ⚡ Charisse Kirsty L. Listening to 10,000 voices across the Lake Chad Basin 🌍 🔎 How do you turn data from one of the world’s most fragile regions into trusted evidence for regional policy? NIRAS’ conflict-sensitive perception surveys — conducted with nearly 10,000 respondents across four countries — are helping the World Bank and the Lake Chad Basin Commission build a shared knowledge platform that governments can rely on to shape peacebuilding, climate resilience, and governance reforms. As we prepare to launch Phase 2, our goal is to move from data collection to real-time learning — tracking how communities change over time and providing decision-makers with the intelligence they need to act early, not late. 🔗 Read the full blog to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gqKEpi32 #FragileContexts #Peacebuilding #MEL #LakeChadBasin #DataForDevelopment

Liberian towns are getting the spark they need. 🌟 In Gbahn and Totoquelleh, solar power is improving lives, and two female entrepreneurs can attest to this positive change. Local entrepreneurs Kuku Kialien and Lolia Gebissay used to close their shops before dark because they had no lighting. 🌙 But once their received solar kits from businesses backed by the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) – a funding facility implemented by Nefco - the Nordic Green Bank with support from NIRAS and REEEP – they quickly found extending hours led to more customers and greater sales. 📈 But owning solar kits resulted in more than just business growth. As it turns out, their private lives have changed for the better as well, sparking hope in their families and children. 🏠💚 📌 Read more about how renewable energy is powering homes and opportunities in this story: https://lnkd.in/gAwgrkVB Gabriela Wise Annegrete Lausten #BGFA #SolarPower #CleanEnergy #Entrepreneurship #Liberia
