  • NTU leads the advancement of Energy Sector Reform in Tajikistan: An EU Global Gateway Flagship for a Sustainable Future Now in its second year of implementation, this EUR 10 million Technical Assistance (TA) programme supports the Government of Tajikistan in advancing comprehensive energy sector reform and driving the transition towards a sustainable, secure, and interconnected energy future. Implemented under the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy, the initiative contributes to strengthening national energy systems, promoting renewable energy and hydropower, and enhancing regional connectivity across Central Asia. As part of the ongoing Energy Sector Reform, the NTU project team is finalising Tajikistan’s first Energy Code, a comprehensive legislative framework covering all areas of energy regulation. The proposed reforms—including the establishment of a regulatory body and the transfer of functions from existing authorities such as the antimonopoly agency and the Ministry of Energy—necessitate a substantial revision of current laws governing licensing, tariff regulation, and competition policy. This project stands as a showcase of the Global Gateway in action in Central Asia—demonstrating how targeted technical assistance can translate policy ambitions into tangible results. By combining policy expertise, institutional strengthening, and regional cooperation, NTU International A/S is helping Tajikistan pave the way toward a greener, more resilient, and interconnected energy landscape. This ambitious effort is implemented under the leadership of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan and under the supervision of the EU Delegation to Tajikistan, whose continued commitment and strategic guidance have been instrumental in advancing the reform agenda. NTU International highly values the trust and cooperation of both partners, reflecting our shared commitment to Tajikistan’s sustainable energy transformation and regional integration. At NTU International, we are proud to support partners like Tajikistan in achieving sustainable energy transformation. Our work embodies the NTU values of integrity, partnership, innovation, and sustainability—delivering solutions that empower local institutions, promote regional stability, and advance the global green transition. Through our engagement in Central Asia and beyond, NTU remains committed to building a future powered by clean energy, strong governance, and inclusive development—turning the vision of the EU Global Gateway into lasting impact. #EU #GlobalGateway #TeamEurope #SustainableDevelopment #GreenTransition #EnergyReform #RenewableEnergy

  • We’re excited to be working on the “Clean Energy Sources for Heating in Bogatynia” project, delivered under the TARGET programme, jointly supported by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB).   Bogatynia - a coal-dependent city at Poland’s tri-border with Germany and Czechia - is taking a bold step toward a sustainable heating future. Nearly 90% of its residents rely on district heating currently supplied by the Turów lignite power plant.   The role of NTU International A/S is to prepare a Feasibility Study that will guide the city’s decarbonisation pathway, including: 🔹 Assessing the current system and heat demand; 🔹 Evaluating renewable and low-carbon sources (biomass, biomethane, solar, heat pumps, waste heat, storage); 🔹 Developing several decarbonisation scenarios up to 2050; 🔹 Engaging stakeholders through a multi-criteria analysis (MCA); 🔹 Recommending a sustainable investment roadmap for the coming decades.   The initiative has already gained attention in local media 👇 https://lnkd.in/deZxDhhS https://lnkd.in/dM7q6SAQ For Bogatynia, this is a crucial initiative - not only for the energy transition, but also for ensuring that our residents have access to stable and affordable heating in the years to come. As Mayor of Bogatynia, Wojciech Dobrołowicz, states: “The visit of the expert group appointed by the European Investment Bank marks an important step for Bogatynia. Their task is to prepare a feasibility study for the decarbonisation of our district heating system, a key document that will guide us toward cleaner and more affordable heat sources."   This project marks a key step in Bogatynia’s journey toward clean, renewable, and efficient district heating - and we’re proud to help shape this transformation together with local partners and stakeholders.
