Lab-4

Description

Documentation deposit (reports and lab notes) of the WhatEvery1Says (WE1S) project's Team 4 — research team studying the value of  the humanities as represented in journalistic media.

WE1S follows an "open science" and "open lab notebooks" research paradigm to promote open, reproducible research in the digital humanities. We deposit the reports and lab notes of each of our main research teams to serve as the underlying record of our analyses and conclusions (for example, as reported in our Key Findings).

Disclaimer: These reports and lab notes are deposited "as is" in their raw form. The open science paradigm is rapidly evolving, and is new in digital humanities research. Ideally, our project could have deployed more standardized, better organized forms of taking notes and recording analytical procedures (e.g., by using electronic lab notebooks or data workflow systems of the kind developed for the STEM sciences). But we hope that our lab records, even while not as easy to read and understand as they might be in a hypothetical "redo" of our project, can set an early model for future, improved practices of open and reproducible research in the digital humanities.

Note: Our lab records are deposited in both .zip and .7z (7-Zip) compressed formats because Windows users may have difficulty decompressing some of the .zip files due to issues related to file names that are too long.
