Shaping Europe’s digital future

The Apply AI Alliance is a coordination forum for AI stakeholders and policy makers, to advance the discussion on AI policy in strategic EU sectors.

The Apply AI Alliance, together with the AI Observatory, supports the governance of the Apply AI strategy. The Alliance is the central contact point between AI stakeholders in strategic sectors and the Commission.

Central point of contact

Building on the former European AI Alliance, the Apply AI Alliance provides a space for stakeholders to share opinions, papers and recommendations with the Commission and the wider AI community. The Community Exchange Platform allows users to update their content, and using a tag system to navigate.

The Commission updates the community on AI related news through the news section. This includes activities of the AI Office, upcoming sectorial AI policies, AI Act news and much more. The events section allows stakeholders to publicise their events, and the Commission to announce sectoral workshops on AI uptake among others.

Shaping AI policy-making

The Apply AI Alliance will support the organisation of annual sectoral workshops on AI in strategic sectors. These workshops, will gather data on new AI use cases in strategic sectors, challenges and possible policy measures which will be used as input to policy-making.

The organisations interested in participating in these events need to express their interest by joining the Stakeholders’ Catalogue section of the Apply AI Alliance. After joining, organisations are encouraged to create a post presenting their activities. Additionally, the Stakeholders’ Catalogue also serves as a networking platform, where organisations can browse stakeholders by sector and contact them.

Who can participate and how?

The Apply AI Alliance is open to all individuals and organisations interested in European AI policy in strategic sectors.

While the Alliance is open to everyone, the Stakeholders’ Catalogue is only open to organisations (i.e. not individual citizens) based in the EEA and Switzerland. Stakeholders include a wide range of organisations, such as business or consumer association, civil society organisations, companies, consultancies, citizens, financial institutions, government or public bodies, research & technology organisations, social partners and trade unions, university/higher education institutions, organisations representing religious or philosophical communities. The Commission’s objective is to listen to as many voices as possible, to shape an AI future fit for everyone.

Related initiatives

The AI Observatory established under the Apply AI Strategy will also support the organisation of sectorial discussions. It will be used for political analysis and decision-making, but also to inform the AI community and the broader public about recent developments in the field.

The AI Board, will remain the main discussion forum on AI with Member States, and will be regularly informed of the activities under the Apply AI Alliance. Through the AI Board efforts will continue to monitor national AI Strategies and facilitate exchange of best practices among Member States, including the public sector.
