This subsection presents statistical information on third-country nationals, meaning non-EU citizens (including stateless persons), seeking asylum in the EU and other European countries.

Eurostat's statistics on asylum provide information by various breakdowns on:

  • number of asylum applicants
  • decisions on applications and resettlement
  • outgoing and incoming Dublin requests and transfers

Eurostat also collects and publishes statistics on temporary protection of persons displaced from Ukraine due to Russia's invasion:

  • decisions granting and withdrawing temporary protection
  • beneficiaries of temporary protection
