Latitude59 Singapore: Highlights & Insights On October 29, Latitude59 hosted its official #SWITCH2025 side event at RASA Space in Singapore, creating a vibrant space for founders, investors, and ecosystem builders from Asia and the New Nordics to connect. The evening was all about curiosity, collaboration, and fresh perspectives. The program featured opening remarks from Mariin Ratnik, Deputy Minister of Economic and Development Affairs at Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Veikko Kala, Estonia’s Ambassador to Singapore and Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry. One of the most anticipated moments was the keynote by Margus Uudam, Founding Partner at Karma Ventures, who shared an overview of the European and New Nordics investment scene. His message was clear: “Over the last 10 years, European funds have produced higher returns than US funds — achieved with reasonable funding, right talent, and a humble approach. It makes sense to pay attention where value is created, not just where capital is abundant.” The panel discussion brought together Sharon Lim (Singapore VCA), Beatrice Lion (True Global Ventures), and Erki Mölder (Verge HealthTech Fund), moderated by Kai Isand, Head of Program at Latitude59. The conversation explored Asia’s perspective on the New Nordics, breaking down preconceptions and uncovering what investors truly look for. As Sharon Lim put it: “Being small means you have no choice but to innovate — and to collaborate. That’s what connects Singapore and the New Nordics.” Another powerful insight came from Johanna Lindroos of Karuna Capital, who reminded us of the importance of cultural openness: “We need to familiarise ourselves with each other more – there are cultural differences and language barriers, of course. But we should drop the preconceptions altogether and treat it as a tabula rasa – a blank page on which to write a new story of the Asian–New Nordic connection.” The evening wrapped up with an invitation to join Latitude59 Tallinn in May 2026, followed by networking over food and drinks. 📸 See the photo gallery: https://lnkd.in/d3EUHJYC #Latitude59 #SWITCH2025 #startupestonia #NSID

You know how much I love Challenger Accelerator, right? When we came up with Iurii-Volodymyr Blavt with the idea of creating Challenger AI accelerator, our goal was to fill a niche where startups could gain international expertise without changing their location, develop advanced tech solutions, and do it all without giving away their equity. And guess what? Now launching Challenger program in Ukraine already 4th year in a row! This time it’s just for 🇺🇦 Ukrainian teams with an MVP product and at 2+ team members. So, if any of my friends are part of a Ukrainian startup ecosystem (or have friends who are), then this is the opportunity! This year, Challenger is looking for startups in #EdTech, #HealthTech, and #AI verticals. Here’s what’s on offer: 🤘 Equity-free participation. 🤘 1:1 mentorship . 🤘 $25,000 grant for the winner from Ukraine-Moldova American Enterprise Fund. 🤘$75,000 AWS credits for three top startups from Ukrainian Startup Fund. 🤘 Trip to Latitude59 in Tallinn. 🤘 Fundraising preparation for one startup from Tinydata. • What do startups, bears and blueberries have in common? Last night we hosted Latitude59 Singapore, our 2nd satellite event in Asia. If you were there, Margus shared the answer to that question. For everyone else, you have to visit the New Nordics yourself and find out. We welcomed 250 attendees from 24 countries who came together to build bridges across Asia and the New Nordics. We were honoured to welcome our guest of honour, Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Trade and Industry of Singapore. He highlighted how Singapore and Estonia - both small, advanced, and tech-savvy nations - are natural partners in innovation. Both countries consistently rank high on global innovation indexes and share a strong drive to build vibrant startup communities. Events like Latitude59 and Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH) bring these ecosystems closer, helping founders and investors exchange ideas, explore collaboration, and create lasting business relationships across regions. We also had the pleasure of hearing opening remarks from Mariin Ratnik, Deputy Minister of Economic and Development Affairs at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia and Veikko Kala, our ambassador of Estonia to Singapore, who both emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between our regions through innovation and entrepreneurship. A big thank you to all our speakers for their insights and energy: Margus Uudam (Karma Ventures), Sharon Lim (Singapore Venture & Private Capital Association, Beatrice Lion (True Global Ventures), Erki Mölder (Verge HealthTech Fund), Johanna Lindroos (Karuna Capital) - and our moderator Kai Isand - for sparking honest dialogue on how Asia and the New Nordics can learn from one another. A common theme shared by all speakers was that building meaningful relationships takes time - and trust must come before transactions. As Johanna put it, “You need to start fundraising when you’re not fundraising - it’s about staying in touch, building familiarity and sharing information.” It’s a reminder of what Latitude59 stands for - bringing people into the same room to spark the connections and trust that fuel global collaboration. This event was organised together with the Embassy of Estonia in Singapore and as an official side-event to SWITCH. Kristel Alver and Johanna-Riinu Annuk - thank you for the trust and incredible support to make this event happen. Next up: we continue telling the Estonian and New Nordic story around the world - see you in November in South Africa and in December in Kenya. And of course our global village gathers every year in May in Tallinn for our Latitude59 main event. #Latitude59 #GlobalVillage
