This week, we are back to you with a new publication shared by the Swedish Civil Society National Network in our Intercultural Dialogue Resource Center (ICDRC) titled “Nothing about us without us — Disability, Gender and Security”. Highlighting how women and girls with disabilities in the South Caucasus and Eastern Europe are often excluded from the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, despite facing unique challenges during conflict and recovery. It calls for stronger representation to ensure they are not left behind in peacebuilding and humanitarian efforts. We were honoured to partner with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the main organiser of this important event. ALF participated in the opening and closing remarks, as well as in the sessions "From Shore to Shore: Honouring the Capitals of Mediterranean Exchange" and "Fostering Regional Cooperation and Networks in the Mediterranean," alongside the Union for the Mediterranean, AECID, the Hellenic Foundation for Books and Culture, and all supporting organisations. The Alex Med Cultural Forum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina unfolded as a vibrant celebration of Mediterranean identity and dialogue. Over these days, thinkers, artists, and cultural actors from across the region came together for panels, exhibitions, performances, and shared experiences that highlighted both heritage and innovation, from the honouring of Alexandria’s Greek musical legacy to the lively displays of folk traditions and contemporary creativity. Through thought-provoking exchanges, music, heritage, and contemporary art, the Forum reaffirmed what unites us beyond borders: a shared sea, a shared culture, and a shared hope for the future. #AlexMed #CulturalForum #Forum #EuroMed

The Anna Lindh Foundation was honored to part take in the 11th Edition of the Mediterranean Dialogues (Med Dialogues), organised by ISPI - Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale, in Naples, Italy. The Foundation was represented by HRH Princess Rym Ali, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation, and Mr. Josep Ferré, Executive Director. On the second day of the conference, Mr. Ferré contributed to an inspiring session titled “Conceptualising the Mediterranean: ‘Near West,’ Hybrid Identities, and Societies on the Move.” In his intervention, he shared insightful reflections: "Intercultural dialogue is about exchanges and tangible interactions. It rests on several key principles: inclusivity - being proactive and leaving no one behind; productivity - the willingness to learn from and collaborate with others; and openness - not fearing difference, but seeing it as a source of enrichment rather than a threat." Later, HRH Princess Rym Ali also spoke at the engaging session: "Bridging shores: roots, memories and identities" exploring how can Mediterranean countries leverage shared cultural roots to foster dialogue and promote cooperation and how can art and literature help bridge distances. #MED2025

As the New Pact for the Mediterranean is announced tomorrow, 16 October, we wanted to look back at one of the key events that shaped ALF’s contribution to this landmark initiative in our region. As part of the ALF4ThePact initiative, ALF organised a high-level dialogue with the Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, on 15 April 2025 at the Berlaymont in Brussels, Belgium, with the participation of MYA youth representatives. Youth shared their insights and perspectives on the process leading to the Pact. We extend our sincere thanks to the Commissioner and the DG MENA for providing this valuable platform for youth and for facilitating the channeling of their voices to the highest level.
