A pilot study using 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗘𝗚 reveals that optical scattering, rather than merely degrading vision, can 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and alter brain activation patterns. To investigate this, researchers measured both critical flicker fusion frequency (CFF) and brain activity (EEG) using 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻’𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝟴𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝗘𝗚. Thirty participants with normal vision were tested using an Arduino-based flicker system while optical scattering was induced through Bangerter filters. #EEG data were collected to analyze spectral changes in brain activity. The results revealed: ➡️ Scattering 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗙𝗙 by roughly 9–10%, meaning participants could detect faster flicker when visual clarity was reduced. ➡️ EEG analyses showed 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮-𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 and a shift of brain activation toward temporal and frontal areas. These results suggest that when spatial vision is reduced, the brain 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, revealing neural plasticity and the value of EEG in studying real-world sensory adaptation. However, as this was a pilot study with EEG data from only one participant, these neural findings are preliminary, and further research is needed to confirm the effects in 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Congratulations to Francisco J. Ávila from Universidad de Zaragoza for this contribution published in Photonics MDPI. 🧠 Learn more about Bitbrain Versatile EEG: https://lnkd.in/djGatQ6B 📘𝘚𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘛𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘝𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘈 𝘗𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘉𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺. EEG signal quality starts with artifact management ⬇️ #EEG provides a direct window into brain activity, but it’s also one of the most noise-sensitive biosignals. Eye blinks, muscle tension, or even subtle cable motion can mask genuine neural patterns and compromise data reliability. Our latest blog post explores the main types of EEG artifacts, physiological and technical, and the modern techniques used to detect and remove them. 🧠Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/d7xCJTxs From Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to advanced #deeplearning models like CNN-LSTM autoencoders and transformer-based denoisers, we review the latest approaches enabling high-fidelity, real-time EEG cleaning. These methods are helping to extract meaningful information from EEG data, making neurotechnology more robust and scalable across domains, from #neuroscience and clinical research to #BCIs and applied human performance. #EEG #SignalProcessing #Neurotechnology #ArtifactRemoval #BCI #AIForScience
