Twice, during 2-week stay, forty young people from Poland, France, United Kingdom and Austria have had the opportunity to reflect on their personal identity and to work on their personal potential. They were part of the project to extend their understanding of society and the consequential HipHop culture, but also to deepen their skills in the areas of rap, song, dance and street art.
As in the trilateral YiA startup project, which took place in Paris, in september 2012, and was the main motivation for follow-up project in June/July 2013, in Graz, the participants were challenged to accompany exercises, to face their own structures, beliefs and boundaries and meet their own prejudices. The participants are all collaborating in the European hip-hop culture, partly as artists and partly as educators.
They are part of the project to extend their understanding of society and the consequential HipHop culture, but also to deepen their skills in the areas of rap, song, dance and street art.
The event brought workshops about personality development, interacting with groups of minorities and creatively challenged the participants to gain empathy and awareness of their own potential and their talents – both artistically and personally.
As an output, the participants created songs, performance and produced a short documentary about the intercultural exchange during workshops with local groups – such as pupils, pensioners, people with special needs, asylum seekers and more.
