Henri Delahaye and Hadrien de Cournon hosted the @RAISE Summit earlier this month in Paris, bringing together entrepreneurs, technologists, investors, and others to share ideas, excitement, and concerns about the advancement of AI.     During my session on the civilizational shift AI marks, Henri asked about the “San Francisco Consensus.”   A group of smart people I work with in San Francisco are convinced that the world as we know it will transform in the next two to four years due to the growth of AI. Their view: as AI develops reasoning abilities and memory systems, it will reshape how humans operate. Eventually, they say, we will reach a moment called recursive self-improvement – when the systems begin to learn at a rate that is impossible for humans to understand.    With AI moving at this breakneck pace, what can companies and innovators learn from past technology waves? Here’s what I learned as CEO of Google: timing is everything. If you’re going to do this work, do it now—and move very fast. Here’s a harsh truth: fundraising today is slow, costly, and unfairly tilted towards the well-connected. You know what I’m talking about.
