  • Finnair carried 3.3 million passengers in Q3 2025, and revenue grew by 2% year-on-year. Our comparable operating result was €50.7 million, and it was negatively impacted by industrial action by the ground workers’ union.  “The result was in line with expectations, supported by active improvements in cost efficiency, which helped reduce the impact of industrial action, increased costs related to environmental regulation, as well as higher navigation and landing charges,” said CEO Turkka Kuusisto. Customer satisfaction recovered rapidly once the industrial action ended around mid-July, and our Net Promoter Score reached 32 for the quarter. Also our operational reliability returned swiftly, with 98.9% of flights operated as planned. The partial renewal project of our narrow-body fleet, launched earlier this year, is progressing, and we are in negotiations with aircraft and engine manufacturers. We will share more details as the project advances. On 13 November 2025, we will host our Capital Markets Update, where we will present our financial targets and strategic priorities for the coming years. • Today's #lifeatfinnair continues our celebration of 10 years of the Airbus A350. The captain of our first A350 delivery flight from Toulouse to Helsinki in 2015 was Jari Paajanen, now the VP of Operations Control at Finnair. Today, we’re getting to know him a little better – take it away, Jari! ✈️ Hi! Could you introduce yourself and tell us what you do at Finnair? Hi! I’m Jari Paajanen, and I lead Finnair Operations Control. We ensure safe and cost-efficient flight planning, control, and support for all Finnair flights. Our team also handles customer solution management – making decisions and solving issues in cases of flight cancellations, delays, route changes, or overbooking. In addition to my OCC work, I’m also an A350 captain. ✈️ What has your career journey been like so far? I started my career as a pilot at Finnair in the early 1990s. Over the years, I’ve flown various aircraft types, including the DC9, MD80, ATR, Embraer, and Airbus. Alongside flying, I’ve worked as an instructor pilot and held several management roles in the Flight Operations department. A highlight was being appointed Vice President of Flight Operations, before moving to my current role in 2023 – another exciting step in my career. Throughout my time at Finnair, I’ve had the opportunity to grow from pilot to leader, gaining experience both in the flight deck and in management. It’s been a journey of continuous learning and new challenges. ✈️ Can you tell us about your role in the A350 delivery ten years ago? During the project, I was Head of the Airbus Fleet, responsible for ensuring the aircraft met Finnair’s operational needs. My team also prepared the flight department to introduce a new aircraft type – training pilots and building the necessary knowledge for safe operation. My time in that role officially ended on 7 October 2015, when I landed the A350 in Helsinki on its delivery flight. After landing, I moved to my new position as Head of Flight Operations and handed over the Airbus fleet to my successor. ✈️ What fond memories do you have related to the A350? There are many! It was incredibly rewarding to help shape what we expected from our new aircraft. I have great memories from different stages of the project – for example, the induction training with Captain Tapani Toppari, where we were among the first in the world to train on the A350. One of the biggest highlights was flying the route proving flight for the aircraft’s certification – the very last flight of the entire campaign. And of course, the delivery flight on 7 October 2015 remains one of my most emotional and meaningful memories, shared with the whole Finnair community. ✈️ What advice would you give to someone considering a career in aviation? Be brave, be curious, and be diligent. In aviation, you’ll learn valuable skills, contribute to connecting the world, and find both challenges and rewards as you progress on an exciting professional journey with other passionate professionals.
