New Research Using EFSim (EPELI) Published in Scientific Reports! A newly published, peer-reviewed study in Scientific Reports led by Erik Seesjärvi and team offers new insight into how children with ADHD manage tasks over time. The research used the tool EPELI (Executive Performance in Everyday Living) - known commercially as EFSim - to explore strategic time-monitoring in a naturalistic, everyday setting. The findings show that while children with ADHD check the time just as often as their peers, they tend to do so less strategically. This subtle but important difference affects their ability to remember and act on time-based intentions - a skill often relied on in daily routines. Notably, strategic time-checking alone explained over 22% of the variance in task performance and fully mediated the impact of ADHD diagnosis. This suggests that strategic time-monitoring could be a meaningful target for future support and intervention. EPELI allows researchers to study goal-directed behavior in realistic scenarios like preparing for school or bedtime - offering an ecologically valid lens on executive function. Background: EFSim is grounded in years of peer-reviewed research on executive function and ADHD. In academic publications, the tool is referred to by its original name, EPELI. Spring 2025 Reflections 🌱 As we welcome the long days of summer, and celebrate Midsummer, we’ve taken a moment to look back at everything we’ve been up to this spring at Peili Vision Oy - and wow, what a season it’s been. It’s been full of learning and working closely with incredible people to help transform ADHD assessments into something more accessible, digital, and effective. ✨ A few things we’re especially proud of: - We got the results of our clinical trial, and it’s a huge milestone for us. It's exciting to see how EFSim can support professionals with meaningful insights in clinical settings. - We reached some big regulatory goals: CE-mark under EU MDR class IIa and DTAC certification- showing that EFSim stands on solid ground as a certified medical tool. - We wrapped up a pilot in Keski-Suomen hyvinvointialue - more on the results soon! - EFSim made its way into new areas, with GP pilots and school-based early interventions happening across the UK. - We joined standout events, including HLTH Europe in Amsterdam, connecting with others dedicated to innovation in neurodevelopment. - Our EFSim portal got a big refresh, shaped by tons of user feedback. It’s now easier to use and better suited to support the families and professionals. - Finally, we’ve launched a campaign offering three free EFSim tests for professionals. The goal is to give you an opportunity to explore the kind of objective results EFSim provides to support ADHD assessments. (Link in comments!) 🏆 We’re officially DTAC compliant! We’re excited to share that our DTAC (Digital Technology Assessment Criteria) Evidence has been finalized, and we’ve officially received our DTAC Warranty Certificate. DTAC is the NHS’s gold-standard framework for evaluating digital health technologies. Achieving compliance confirms that EFSim meets strict standards for clinical safety, data protection, cybersecurity, usability, and interoperability. It reflects our ongoing commitment to developing secure, effective, and reliable solutions for health and care settings. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported this achievement  in particular, our consultants at Acorn Compliance, whose guidance was key throughout the process.
