🔹 Team building day at ALDA Brussels! 🔹 Yesterday, our Brussels team came together for a full day of team-building activities – welcoming our new Civil Service Volunteers, strengthening collaboration, and reflecting on the kind of work environment we want to build together. 💬💡 The morning was all about getting to know each other, setting shared goals, and nurturing a safe, inclusive and supportive workspace. Through creative exercises, playful challenges, and thoughtful discussions, we explored what it means to work as a team and how to foster a positive atmosphere in the office. In the afternoon, the adventure continued outdoors with a treasure hunt across Brussels! 🗺️ From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, we (re)discovered the city while introducing it to our newest colleagues – all wrapped in a bit of friendly competition. It was a day of connection, discovery, and shared energy. Here’s to a new season of collaboration, growth and solidarity at ALDA Brussels! 🌟

🤝 Strengthening Ukraine–Spain Ties Through Local Partnerships On 24 June 2025, a new bridge was built between Khmilnyk (Ukraine) and Ajuntament de Mollet del Vallès (Spain)! 🇺🇦🇪🇸 Thanks to the TIPS4UA internship programme, led by the Le Comité européen des régions , in cooperation with U-LEAD with Europe and Diputació de Barcelona. The Mayor of Khmilnyk, Mykola Yurchyshyn signed a Letter of Intent to foster international cooperation and joint municipal projects. 🔹 The Khmilnyk delegation met with 17 Catalan municipalities in June, exchanging practices on urban regeneration & youth engagement, climate-neutral solutions & public health, and cultural heritage & mental wellbeing. 📣 A highlight? Khmilnyk's City Council Secretary, Pavlo Krepkyi's inspiring speech in Ajuntament de Sant Boi de Llobregat on community resilience in wartime. 🔗 The partnership will focus on: 🟢 Joint work on EU-funded projects (Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, LIFE, URBACT) 🟢 Cooperation on inclusion, tourism, entrepreneurship, digital transformation 🟢 Peer learning among officials, experts & academics ✊ The LDA Vinnytsia Region will actively support this initiative, a shining example of ALDA's commitment to local democracy and cross-border cooperation, even in challenging times. #LocalDemocracy #UkraineSupport

🌍🇺🇦 From Münster to Ukraine, local voices are shaping Europe’s future! Last week, ALDA took part in the 7th German-Ukrainian Municipal Partnership Conference in Münster, highlighting how local democracy is key to Ukraine’s EU integration and recovery. 🗓 June 17 At the high-level panel “Ukraine’s Path to the EU”, our Secretary General Antonella Valmorbida spoke alongside top leaders from 🇩🇪 and 🇺🇦, stressing the power of decentralised cooperation and presenting our Local Democracy Agencies in Ukraine as a model for EU values in action. 🎤 Speakers included: 🔹 Reem Alabali Radovan, Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Minister (online) 🔹 Serhii Hupiak, National Agency on Corruption Prevention 🔹 Mykhailo Lavriv, Kalush District Council 🗓 June 18 Our Ukraine Coordinator Khrystyna Kvartsiana joined the panel “Ukraine’s EU accession – current status and opportunities for municipalities”, exploring how local governments can boost service delivery and build 🇪🇺-ready partnerships. 🎤 Speakers included: 🔹 Thomas Schmidt, Mayor of Teltow 🔹 Ivan Dyriv - Mayor of Dolyna 🔹Andrej Horvat, U-LEAD with Europe 🔹 Iryna Mykulych, NGO Agency for Recovery and Development 🤝 Thanks to Engagement Global gGmbH, the German-Ukrainian Partnership Bureau, and the City of Münster for making it all possible. #UkraineRecovery #ALDAEurope

🇺🇦🤝🇫🇷 Local partnership that inspires! In June, 18 young residents of Zelenodolsk (Dnipropetrovsk region) visited the French town of Sceaux as part of a cultural and educational exchange. This visit was the result of a partnership between the municipalities as part of the #BridgesOfTrust Initiative. To make this happen, alda* - European Association for Local Democracy, and its Local Democracy Agency (LDA) Dnipro, U-LEAD with Europe, and the Municipality of Sceaux worked closely together to organise this visit. As a result, it contributed to strengthening municipal ties through peer-to-peer connections and shared experiences. 🤝 Such an exchange is more than a trip! It is new connections, common ideas and friendship that strengthens cooperation between Ukrainian hromadas and European municipalities for years to come.

🔹 Democracy and Security: A Call for a New European Agenda 🔹 ALDA proudly joined other organisations in endorsing the joint Statement for a Democratic and Secure Europe, initiated by the Kofi Annan Foundation. As threats to democracy multiply, European institutions must place democratic governance at the heart of their new security agenda.
