🌱 Exciting news! CPI is joining the CellAgri consortium, led by Fraunhofer FEP and funded under the EIC Pathfinder Challenge. Together with partners across Europe, we will develop biodegradable cellulose-based mulch films with innovative coating solutions to improve water management in agriculture and reduce microplastic pollution. 🌍 We are proud to contribute our expertise in sustainable coatings to this ambitious project! #Sustainability #Innovation #CoatingSolutions #EUProjects #AgriTech
🌱 CPI joins the CELLAGRI consortium! We are proud to announce that Coating Plasma Innovation (CPI), part of the Plasmalex Group, has joined the CellAgri project, led by Fraunhofer FEP, funded under the EIC Pathfinder Challenge. The CellAgri project aims to develop sustainable and biodegradable mulch films based on cellulose. These films will integrate nature-inspired microfluidic structures in biodegradable coatings to improve water management in agriculture. 🌍 Why does this matter? - Conventional polyethylene mulch films create significant CO₂ emissions (1.8–3.2 kg CO₂-eq per kg plastic) - Around 30% are not recovered after use, making them a major source of microplastic pollution - In Europe, more than 80,000 tons are used annually By combining expertise from across Europe, CellAgri aims to deliver a sustainable alternative that truly makes a difference for agriculture and the environment. 💬 Tim Beulens, Vice-President of Plasmalex : “Being part of this consortium is a recognition of our growing track record in sustainable coating solutions. It also shows that coatings can be an enabling technology in many different fields, even in applications such as agricultural film.” We are excited to collaborate with leading partners across Europe over the next four years to make this vision a reality.
