À propos
The European Urban Initiative (EUI) is an instrument of the urban dimension of Cohesion policy. EUI supports European cities in developing transferable and scalable innovative solutions to urban challenges of European Union relevance. EUI supports cities of all sizes to tackle these challenges and contribute to sustainable development of the entire European Union and its citizens, and to build capacities and increase knowledge sharing in order to strengthen the transformative power of all EU urban areas. The Initiative has a total ERDF budget of EUR 450 million for the programming period 2021-2027. to create and offer opportunities and an environment for implementing bold urban strategies. These projects test new solutions, techniques and planning models, building capacities and sharing knowledge in sustainable urban development. EUI takes its roots in a strong commitment to strengthen the urban dimension of EU policies and the conviction of the EU that cities must be involved in the design and implementation of policy responses to their local challenges.

📢 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗘𝗨 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 - 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆! EU leaders have been clear: the housing crisis is a social crisis, and we must tackle it together. With €19.6 billion from #NextGenerationEU already supporting affordable housing and a European Affordable Housing Plan on the way, now is the moment to turn commitment into action. That’s exactly what this Policy Lab is about, making affordable and social housing work in practice! In Fuenlabrada, Spain (18–19 November 2025), cities will come together to show how policies become solutions on the ground. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗨𝗜 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲? The call from EU leaders is clear and so is our commitment: housing is a top EU priority. The housing crisis is a social crisis, and we must tackle it together as a Union – now. Through #NextGenerationEU, €19.6 billion from the Recovery and Resilience Facility is already supporting affordable housing across the EU. But we are not stopping here. Still this year, we will present a European Affordable Housing Plan - a coordinated approach to make affordable housing a right for everyone, not a privilege for a few. 💙 And because we know this requires strong European coordination, we will convene the first ever EU Housing Summit in 2026.
