Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are a group of uncommon tumors that develop in the cells of the neuroendocrine system throughout the body. They account for around 20% of all lung cancer cases yet remain under-recognized and often difficult to detect. For Melanie, this lack of awareness had a profound impact. Her story highlights the complexity of NETs and how every journey is unique. With no two experiences alike, Melanie had to become an expert in her own disease by learning, adapting and finding ways to live well despite the uncertainty. Living with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) doesn’t come with a roadmap. Though most forms of NETs grow slowly, the disease still have a profound and lasting impact on daily life. For Melanie, this has meant finding a way to live alongside the disease and building a deeper understanding of a condition that is often unpredictable. What began with uncertainty for Melanie has evolved into a determination to live well in every moment, to make space for her gardening and embrace each new chapter as it comes.
