Oxfam in Ghana joins the world to celebrate every girl child today. This year’s theme, “The Girl I Am, the Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” reminds us that, girls are not just recipients of support, they are leaders shaping solutions in education, climate action, and gender justice. As the world mark 30 years since the Beijing Declaration, this year's commemoration is a rallying cry to see girls for who they truly are, to listen to their voices and to recognize their limitless potential. For girls are not waiting for a better world, they are building it. #investingirls YEFL-Ghana Norsaac Friends of the Nation PPAG (Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana) Oxfam in Africa Oxfam-Québec Oxfam Novib

Oxfam in Ghana and CSO Members of the Coalition Against Witchcraft Accusations (CAWA), together with the Ghana's Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights have embarked on a joint visit to the Gambaga Alleged Witches Camp in the North East Region of Ghana. The visit marks a significant step forward in the fight against harmful cultural practices in Ghana. The visit underscores a united front between #civilsociety and #Parliamentarians to better understand the living conditions of women accused of witchcraft, engage with camp residents, and explore long-term solutions for reintegration, protection, and dignity restoration. It is also to amplify the voices of survivors in shaping the Witchcraft Accusations Bill currently before Parliament. The collaboration highlights the urgent need to eliminate #stigma, #safeguard #humanrights, and promote #communitybasedinterventions that respect both cultural sensitivities and the fundamental rights of women and vulnerable groups. This joint effort is a call to action on the need to strengthen legal frameworks, intensify public education, and invest in sustainable rehabilitation programmes so that no woman or child is forced to live in fear or isolation because of witchcraft accusations. #HumanRights #SocialJustice #EndWitchCamps Parliament of Ghana Amnesty International Ghana ActionAid The Sanneh Institute Songtaba NGO Oxfam in Africa Norsaac YEFL-Ghana Office of the President, Republic of Ghana Hon.Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo Thelma Akyere Hayford Gwumah PPAG (Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana) Friends of the Nation Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection - Ghana

At the #AfricanClimatesummit2025, Ugandan climate activist Nakabuye Hilda Flavia delivered a powerful message: it’s time forrich polluting nations to take full accountability for their role in the climate crisis and to contribute equitably to the solutions. Climate justice means ensuring that those most responsible also bear the greatest responsibility for action. ⬇ Oxfam International Oxfam in Ethiopia Oxfam in Uganda

Rich, high-polluting nations have failed East Africa, delivering only 4% of the climate finance they promised under international agreements. These broken promises violate international agreements and leave vulnerable communities to bear the burden. Climate finance is not charity, it’s a matter of justice. On Day 1 of the 2025 Future of Energy Conference, taking place in Accra, Ghana, Oxfam in Africa hosted a side event session on the topic “Financing a Just Energy Transition in Africa: Between Debt Challenges, Inequality, and Energy Sovereignty.” The session explored how African countries can lead and finance their own energy transition, from fossil fuels to clean energy, without deepening debt or inequality. The key take way was the need for African nations to own their transition and set its priorities. As well as ensuring financing supports skills, resources, and sovereignty, not dependency. #FutureOfEnergy #FEC2025 #Oxfam PPAG (Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana) YEFL-Ghana Friends of the Nation Norsaac Africa Centre for Energy Policy Thelma Akyere Hayford Gwumah Lusa Harris Oxfam Novib Oxfam-Québec Oxfam America
