flutter_image planned to be discontinued

flutter_image is being discontinued; see #162960.

This issue exists as a place for anyone in the community who might be interested in creating a new package forked from this repository to (if they so choose) coordinate on forming a collaborative fork, as a single fork with multiple owners would be more likely to be sustainable than multiple one-off forks by individuals.

If one or more community-maintained forks are created, they can also be referenced here as a way for people to find alternatives to this discontinued project.

This issue will be kept open for discussion until June 30, 2025.

how are we supposed to add watermarks/overlays, resize etc. without this? doesn't that put a huge hole in what kind of apps can be made?
