METLEN has secured €65 million in financing for the construction of Porto Torres and Casale Monferrato, two large-scale solar parks totalling 60 MW, expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Both projects will be located in Sardegna and Piemonte, two strategically important regions for METLEN’s expansion in Italy. The solar parks benefit also from a state-backed incentive tariff granted by the GSE (Gestore Servizi Energetici) for a period of 20 years and are estimated to produce approximately 110 GWh of clean energy annually, enough to meet the energy needs of over 50,000 Italian households and prevent the emission of 26,000 tons of CO2 per year. The financing for these projects was concluded through a club deal structure, with UniCredit , Intesa Sanpaolo – ΙΜΙ CIB Division and Alpha Bank. 📍 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dpSWxmJR

The inauguration ceremony for the new, state-of-the-art bioclimatic façade of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence took place yesterday in the courtyard of the Ministry, a landmark donation by METLEN. In line with its long-standing commitment to supporting projects of high social, cultural, and national significance, the company funded and implemented the complete redesign of the façade and surrounding area of the historic building complex of the Ministry, located at the “Papagos” military camp. The project, designed by internationally acclaimed artist and Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Kostas Varotsos, was implemented by ELEMKA S.A., a specialized company of METKA, a subsidiary of METLEN. Utilizing advanced equipment and adhering to the highest quality and safety standards, the project was completed under the supervision of METLEN’s experienced engineers. It is worth noting that the louvers were made of Greek aluminum, produced from Greek bauxite and manufactured at METLEN’s “Aluminium of Greece” plant. Evangelos Mytilineos, Chairman and CEO of METLEN, stated: “METLEN did not simply make a donation. We responded to an obvious patriotic duty and are deeply honored to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to the Ministry of National Defence. With an intervention of high aesthetic and functional value at this historic and emblematic building, we reinforce the Armed Forces — their infrastructure, their systems, and above all their people." Through the donation and construction of the new bioclimatic façade of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, METLEN reaffirms its role as a pillar of Greek industry, actively supporting projects of national importance that combine innovation, technical excellence, and lasting social impact. 📍 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/d2aCg_AX

METLEN participated in the 7th Renewable & Storage Forum, contributing to discussions on evolving energy strategies and the operational and financial challenges of renewable energy and storage projects. The company was represented by Nick Keramidas, General Manager of European Affairs and Regulatory Advocacy and George Zazias, Long Term Optimization & Aggregation Director. In the panel titled “Is there a shift in the EU’s energy transition strategy? What is the new landscape for interconnections, renewables, and storage?”, Nick emphasized the need for a more pragmatic approach to Europe’s energy transition. While the long-term goal of decarbonization remains, he noted that society and industry are calling for a reality check, one that places affordability, resilience, and security of supply back at the heart of energy planning. On grids, he stressed the importance of innovative financing solutions to manage cost impacts, while advocating for a market-based approach to storage and backup capacity, including capacity markets. Building on the discussion from an operational perspective, George Zazias took part in the panel “The viability of RES and storage stations under new conditions – Energy Management – Financing opportunities – Support tools – Participation in energy exchange markets.” He presented METLEN’s hands-on experience in developing and managing storage units in Italy, highlighting the factors that determine their viability. These include the complexity of revenue stacking, access to multiple market mechanisms, and the use of optimization tools. He stressed that storage is not a static asset but a dynamic infrastructure that requires continuous monitoring, market adaptation, and strategic management to maximize its value. Their contributions underscored the importance of realistic policy frameworks, technological and operational flexibility, and multidimensional asset utilization to ensure the long-term sustainability of energy infrastructure.

Visit of the Economic and Commercial Diplomats Club / Athens (ECDC) to METLEN We were honoured to welcome the Economic & Commercial Diplomats Club (ECDC) — a network coordinated by Enterprise Greece SA — to METLEN’s industrial and energy facilities in Agios Nikolaos, Boeotia. Led by Mindaugas Vyskupaitis, First Secretary of the Embassy of Lithuania, the delegation included over 20 diplomats from 17 countries, representing Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. During the visit, participants had the opportunity to experience first-hand METLEN’s integrated business ecosystem — from the only vertically integrated bauxite–alumina–aluminium complex in the EU to our rapidly expanding energy and renewables portfolio. As Ms. Vivian Bouzali noted in her welcome remarks: It is both an honour and a pleasure to welcome you today, the Club of Economic and Commercial Diplomats (ECDC) coordinated by Enterprise Greece to the historic site of Aluminium of Greece, here in Agios Nikolaos — a place that has stood for more than six decades as a symbol of industrial excellence, innovation, and partnership. The exchange highlighted how economic diplomacy and industry can work hand in hand to foster partnerships, innovation, and growth across borders. We extend our warm thanks to the members of the ECDC and Enterprise Greece for this inspiring and productive visit — a testament to the power of collaboration between diplomacy and business.
