That’s why this year’s #BusinessDay was all about bold thinking and the human potential in the age of AI. 🎀 As October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month continues, we’re reflecting on the importance of taking real steps, both big and small, toward change. We were there at the Greece Race for the Cure celebrating solidarity and strength, standing alongside thousands of people affected by breast cancer. Each step we took was a small act of hope, helping improve lives and move us closer to a better future, as part of our ESG strategy. We ran, walked and connected, supporting the Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer and their vital work for patients and families. All registration fees were donated to fund prevention and research programs. Seeing our team, families and friends join together over this important cause was truly inspiring. When it comes to AI, “we’re celebrating the wrong victories.” That’s how Stephen M. Dick , SVP Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer at Paylocity and PeopleCert Ambassador, opens his latest piece for CIO Online. In “The quiet crisis: why your AI cost savings are creating tomorrow's problems”, Dick pulls back the curtain on a truth many businesses and senior leaders would rather not face: the obsession with the immediate ROI of AI automation is quietly creating long-term damage. He points out that “When you deploy AI to drive cost savings without investing equally in reskilling, you are not being efficient. You are externalizing your costs onto society.” Because every employee (especially those in junior roles) we automate away, could have been the future senior engineers, directors, and CTOs who never got the chance to learn the skills required. Something is shifting in Further Education (FE), with colleges focusing more and more on getting students work-ready. Short professional courses, or micro-credentials, are at the core of this change, giving learners the practical skills they need to succeed in a competitive job market. Colleges leading the way are already integrating certifications like ITIL and PRINCE2 in their courses, equipping students not just with textbook knowledge but also the critical thinking and real-world understanding that employers are looking for.
