𝗗𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁: 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲.𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗨 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 In October, 13 partners from nine countries joined forces under the DEFENSEFOOD Horizon Europe project to strengthen Europe’s food systems against chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) threats. Through scientific research and collaboration, DEFENSEFOOD will develop AI-enabled tools, training resources, and cross-border frameworks to detect, prevent, and respond to emerging food-related risks. As a project partner, reframe.food leads dissemination, exploitation, and communication, ensuring that DEFENSEFOOD’s results are shared widely and translated into meaningful action for safer and more resilient food systems across Europe. The team drives visibility and collaboration, connects the project with related initiatives, and strengthens the ability of authorities, producers, and stakeholders to prevent, detect, and respond to threats. It also develops strategies for long-term sustainability and the effective use of project outcomes beyond its duration. The Kick-off Meeting, hosted at Wageningen University (Netherlands), marked the start of a collaboration dedicated to protecting Europe’s food systems through science and innovation. The initiative supports the implementation of innovative solutions that reduce fertiliser use and prevent, minimise, or remediate soil and water pollution, fostering more sustainable and resilient agrifood systems.
