On October 28, a man was pronounced deceased at the Blue Lagoon after losing consciousness, Vísir reports.

Around midday, emergency services were called to the scene and attempted resuscitation. Approximately an hour later, he was pronounced dead. The man was in his 60s.

The case is now being treated by the police in accordance with protocol.

According to the Blue Lagoon’s press statement, this is the third death at the spa location since its opening in 1999.

In 2024, a man in his 80s died after revival attempts failed. In 2004, a 14-year-old boy drowned in the lagoon, according to a 2004 DV article.
