With over 30 years of international hospitality experience across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Etienne brings deep expertise across luxury, full-service, and focused-service hospitality. He has a proven track record in rebranding, mentoring future leaders, and elevating guest experiences. Etienne has held numerous senior roles, led multi-property operations, and consistently delivered excellence through transformations, openings, and team leadership across diverse markets. Daniel van Wyk has joined Mandarin Oriental as Corporate Director of Operations. A seasoned hospitality executive with more than 20 years of experience, Daniel has held senior leadership roles across the UK and the Middle East. He has worked in both full-service and luxury hospitality environments, leading hotel openings, repositionings, and operational turnarounds. Daniel consistently delivers strong commercial outcomes and fosters high-performing teams. As part of our recent Swiss recruitment trip, we were honoured to bring the spirit of Mandarin Oriental to EHL through a full-day campus takeover, celebrating shared values, creativity, and the future of hospitality. Students explored the many dimensions of our brand, from CEO Laurent Kleitman’s inspiring keynote on the future of luxury hospitality to Chief People & Culture Officer ShaoWei Ong’s reflections on how people and culture shape exceptional guest experiences. We’ve just wrapped up another inspiring journey through Switzerland, where our CEO, Laurent Kleitman, delivered keynote speeches at some of the world’s leading hospitality schools.
