In the wake of devastation, the Ukrainian city of Bucha is rebuilding not just buildings —but community and resilience. With support from Climate KIC through the #EITCommunity New European Bauhaus initiative, the Bucha Forest Classroom is transforming a public park into a learning and healing space. Built using circular materials and designed with children’s participation, it blends environmental education, psychological support, and community regeneration. This inspiring initiative is part of Co-create NEB, an EIT programme supporting local communities in redesigning public spaces for a more sustainable, inclusive and beautiful future. 💡 A space for learning, recovery and connection —led by a Ukrainian community that refuses to give up. 🔗 Learn more about Co-create NEB and EIT-supported transformation across Europe: europa.eu/!vKRHQc #EITCommunity #NewEuropeanBauhaus #Bucha #UrbanTransformation #SustainableDesign #Ukraine #MakingInnovationHappen #HorizonEurope

Congratulations to the Joint Research Centre for its future home in Seville, a beautiful building that will become a symbol of the New European Bauhaus. By the way, we have four EIT Community New European Bauhaus-backed projects among the finalists of the New European Bauhaus Awards 2025. You can vote for them until 10 July! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ekb7WU33
We are starting construction of the new site of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Seville, Spain. Its roof covered in solar panels will generate more energy than the building will consume, as well as providing shade for a public square. The dome shape of the building is inspired by Seville’s traditional architecture, and the construction will use locally sourced materials like limestone, wood and ceramics. The construction works are expected to last two years. Seville has hosted one of the sites of the Joint Research Centre since 1994. Over 400 of our researchers work there, providing science and data in support of innovation, economic modelling, fiscal policy, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. The new building, designed by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, is a symbol of the New European Bauhaus, the EU initiative that supports the creation of beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive places, products and ways of living. 📍Today we welcomed the participants of the 2025 Budapest Science Diplomacy Summer School to the EIT Headquarters in Budapest!👩🏻🎓🧪 Over 30 Master’s and PhD students, early-career professionals and researchers from the Visegrád countries, the Western Balkans and beyond joined us for a deep dive into Europe’s innovation landscape and the evolving role of science diplomacy. Organised under the Erasmus+ CatalySD project, the visit focused on how the EIT connects education, research and business to drive innovation — and how future science diplomats can help shape EU policy from both national and international levels. From career insights and lively discussions to an interactive EU policy simulation, it was an energising exchange of ideas across borders and disciplines. 🌍 Because building Europe’s innovation future starts with connecting its young talents. #EITCommunity #ScienceDiplomacy #InnovationPolicy #FutureOfEurope #EUInnovation #HorizonEurope #ErasmusPlus #MakingInnovationHappen
