In our publication we evaluated the results and the experience gain during the first five years, and we also proposed alternative funding schemes and mechanisms to increase the innovation capacity of Hungary.

What kind of #innovation do we really need today? And what kind do we not need? Why is it that the biggest companies — in Poland and beyond — are still holding back on bold, systemic innovation for the climate, the environment, and society? 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆? Poland’s Medical Cannabis Market Rebounds After Telemedicine Ban Despite the November 2024 telemedicine ban, which disrupted patient access and caused a sharp contraction, Poland’s medical cannabis market is showing signs of recovery. I obtained updated data from Polish health authorities, which offers insights for Germany, Australia and other countries that may face similar threats of regulatory pushback. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: • Initial impact of telemedicine ban: Sales more than halved. For instance, flower dispensed fell from 546 kg in August 2024 to 231 kg in December 2024. • Recovery: By June 2025, volumes rebounded to 434 kg. While still below the 2024 peak, the trend suggests dispensed volumes could return to or exceed those highs in 2026. Volumes are recovering faster than revenue due to falling prices. • H1 2025 performance: Sales revenue reached ~€24.5M (I converted from PLN at average monthly rates). Annualized, this implies ~€49M, about 66% of 2024’s ~€74M. With the ongoing rebound, 2025 is likely to close in the €55–60M range, or ~75–80% of 2024 levels. • Pricing and consumption: The average price per gram is declining, while grams per patient are increasing. In June 2025, nearly the same amount of flower was sold as in June 2024, but to fewer patients and at lower prices—explaining the revenue gap. This post shows how strong patient demand and market fundamentals can eventually reassert themselves even after knee-jerk policy decisions that temporarily restrict patient access.
