The Government has expanded efforts to tax the e-commerce sector by issuing Minister of Finance Regulation No 37 Year 2025 (PMK-37) on 11 June 2025, concerning the appointment of other parties as income tax collectors and the mechanism of collection, deposit, and reporting of income tax from domestic traders through e-commerce marketplaces. PMK-37 states that marketplaces can be appointed by the Director-General of Taxation to collect Article 22 income tax. The related regulation, PER-15/PJ/2025, stipulating monetary and/or traffic thresholds, was issued on 5 August 2025.
