The Sustainable Mobility Academy is a dynamic online space for learning, sharing, and exchanging best practice and insights on sustainable mobility initiatives. A key feature of the platform is a curated library of case studies from Ireland and abroad, projects featured include the Cobh Public Realm Enhancement Plan. This is a strategic initiative under Project Ireland 2040 and the URDF, to promote compact growth in the Town Centre. The Plan consists of 6 different urban zones of the town centre. Cobh’s Public Realm Enhancement Plan addresses long standing challenges in pedestrian safety, accessibility, and urban quality. Through a DMURS-led design approach, the town is being transformed into a safer, greener, and more inclusive space. It aims to connect the town to its arrival points, unlocking active mobility, well-being, and celebrating its rich heritage. With strong community engagement and support, the plan sets out a vision for a town centre that is welcoming, connected, and resilient.
