A fantastic step by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and Apprenticeship Ireland to strengthen Ireland’s cyber resilience. Building a skilled and diverse cybersecurity workforce is key to protecting our national digital infrastructure, and initiatives like this make that possible. Congratulations to all involved 👏
❗ Ireland’s First Cybersecurity Apprenticeship for Local Government Launched 🔐 The Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Programme, which allows employees to train while they work, was officially launched by Minister of State at the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Marian Harkin TD and Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, John Cummins TD in Dundalk, Co Louth. Ten local authorities have joined a new initiative to upskill staff and strengthen cyber resilience. 👩💻 When completed, the programme will equip participants with the skills and knowledge to work in cybersecurity roles within the local government sector, and they will receive an Advanced Certificate in Cybersecurity (NFQ Level 6). 💻 “This apprenticeship programme is a powerful example of how targeted education and training can support the evolving needs of our public sector,” said Minister Marian Harkin TD.

National Cyber Security Centre, Ireland (NCSC-IE) reposted this
On my final day in the beautiful city of León, I can look back on a busy and rewarding week. It was a pleasure to get to know my new EU/EEA cybersecurity family, and to work with them on one of the biggest challenges facing us all. I'm very honoured to have been appointed to Chair the NCC Network in 2026 and I am looking forward to working closely with Polis Peratikos 💬 and Hector Laiz Ibanez to further our agenda. We have very large shoes to fill, and I'd like to thank the current Chair Lauri Tankler and Deputy Chair Rossana Pollio for the foundations they've laid for the group, and for their support in preparing for next year. The network of National Coordination Centres (NCCs) met today for its networking day, hosted by NCC-ES INCIBE - Instituto Nacional de Ciberseguridad. NCC representatives presented their latest achievements and lessons learned and engaged in strategic discussions on the future. The meeting also marked the rotation of the leadership of the network, with the new appointed Chair Hilda Ó Riain, and deputy Chairs Polis Peratikos 💬 and Hector Laiz Ibanez. Congratulations to all three! Thank you to the outgoing Chair and deputy Chair for your vision and commitment! 👏

You can make your online accounts and smartphone apps more secure by using a strong password or passphrase. A password or passphrase should be a secret that only you know. A strong password has at least 12 characters - 14 or more is better. By characters, we mean it should contain a mix of: • numbers • letters in CAPITALS and lowercase • special characters like !,£,%,* For a password, Never use: • real words or words in a dictionary – it’s best to invent them! • names, birthdays, or addresses • the same username and password for more than one account • patterns like 12345678 or Ireland123 Read more information at this link: https://lnkd.in/eXKDtDQa

🖥️ While you may think your encryption is future proof, advancements in quantum computing suggest what is secure today could be vulnerable tomorrow. Quantum computing is an up-and-coming area of computer science and engineering that uses the special properties of quantum mechanics to solve problems that are too complex for even the fastest classical computers. Global investment and research in this area will have far reaching implications across a broad range of sectors. In this blog post, we will explain the potential implications of developments in quantum computing on how we currently keep our data and information secure. We will outline some of the challenges we face and what we can and need to do now to prepare. Read more below 👇
