📢 We’re proud to stand alongside the End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW) and more than 60 organisations in calling on the government to deliver a robust Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy. Together, we’ve set out 𝗳𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝘀 that must be at the heart of any meaningful plan: 𝟭. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 through public-health approaches - education, awareness campaigns, and regulated online spaces 𝟮. 𝗔 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 that addresses all forms of VAWG, reflecting women and girls’ lived realities 𝟯. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 - with equalities at the core and no one left behind 𝟰. 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 for specialist, ‘by and for’ support services 𝟱. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, backed by a clear framework These priorities echo SafeLives’ own strategy - 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀. 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 - rooted in survivor voice, best practice, workforce development, and influencing change at every level. They speak to the future we know is possible: where every adult and child can live a safe, full life. 🤝 What is social value and why does it matter to business? Under the Social Value Act , public bodies must consider how the services they commission improve the wellbeing of local communities. For businesses bidding for public contracts, demonstrating clear, locally relevant social value is now essential to stand out to public sector buyers! That’s where The Wildlife Trusts come in 🐾🌿 Across the country, we’re helping businesses embed social value in their bids - offering the opportunity to fund and collaborate on place-based projects that directly align with framework agreements and recognised social value models. One standout example is our partnership with CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre infrastructure platform 📡 As part of the government’s Project Gigabit, CityFibre is rolling out lightning-fast broadband to over 1.3 million premises, many in rural and hard-to-reach areas. But they’re not stopping at connectivity... Today sees the launch of a new research-based toolkit to help policymakers, businesses, and civil society harness ‘positive tipping points’ in systems such as energy, food and local communities. The toolkit has been developed by our Green Futures Network alongside Global Systems Institute, University of Exeter, and builds on a growing body of evidence that small, targeted interventions can spark rapid reductions in emissions and other environmental harm. A tipping point is a threshold where a small change can trigger a significant, often irreversible, transformation.
