“I’ve always been drawn to science, but also to people, languages, and new perspectives. I was born in Brazil and studied Physics at the University of Brasília. From there, my path took me across continents: to Portugal, Italy, France, and eventually the United States. I earned a master’s in materials science, a PhD in nanoscience while working in European Synchrotron Radiation Facilities and Neutron Sources. In my last job, I was an instrument scientist at the Iowa State University. Every step added something new, both professionally and personally. When I joined Nova in April, I was excited but also curious. I had just moved to California, and I knew this was the beginning of a new chapter. What I found here exceeded my expectations. The environment is welcoming, the team is supportive, and the culture is collaborative in a way that feels real. From day one, I felt comfortable asking questions, contributing ideas, and just being myself. Even in technical meetings, no question feels too small. People are generous with their knowledge, and that makes a big difference. Right now, I’m working on a fast-moving project. It’s challenging, but it’s also exactly what I was looking for. I’ve been given space to learn, the tools to grow, and the trust to make an impact. My manager checks in often, and that level of care makes you feel seen. Something else I appreciate deeply is Nova’s approach to diversity. Not just in background, but in thought. Across countries and teams, there’s a consistent openness and willingness to listen. And for someone who speaks four languages and thrives on connection, that means a lot.” Carolina Selvati, Applications Engineer

Nova Taiwan team came for the adventure and got much more. Our annual Body Training is so much more than just the rafting, exploring, eating well, and laughing loud. The part that stayed with us is what happened off the tourist map. At VAVA, we witnessed courage that danced. Children with hearing loss moving to music they couldn’t hear, but could feel. It was a moment of clarity: we weren’t just there to bond, but to listen, learn, and give back. The body training is built on more than just fun. It’s about heart, presence, and people. And Vietnam gave us all three, in the most unforgettable way.

We kicked off our event in Las Vegas talking service and revenues, yet by lunchtime we were building domino rally machines and taking a plunge in the pool. It all happened at our GBG West annual meeting in Vegas, where we sketched out future plans, between deep dives and plenty of laughter. Colleagues joined from Israel, Germany, and across the U.S., and for a moment, the room felt like a small global village. These kinds of events bring us closer as a team, and leave us a little more ready for what’s next. #WeAreNova #GBGWest

"My journey with physics started with one teacher who sparked real curiosity in me. It wasn’t long before I found myself competing in the high school Physics Olympiad, which was an experience that shaped me deeply. Since then, the path has only expanded: I returned to the Olympiad as a mentor, continued on to advanced studies, and today I’m a physics masters student who gets to blend this passion with hands-on work at Nova. This year, we hosted our third gathering of about 20 Physics Olympiad alumni. It’s not a formal event, it’s more like a community reunion that rotates between tech companies, bringing together past participants who are now in the army, academia, or industry. It’s a simple and meaningful meeting: a fascinating lecture (huge thanks to Maor Asher), some hummus and beer, and lots of conversations about physics, life, and the paths we’re each walking. There’s something incredibly moving about that circle: coming back to where it all began, this time from the other side. Meeting again those who once walked beside you, and showing up to open doors and offer inspiration to the next generation stepping in." Eli Meril, Research Scientist Student at Nova Physics Olympiad alum and mentor, Master student in physics
