Not many people know the story behind our logo. And honestly, we often wonder the same about so many brands. Who designed it? What does it stand for?
When I was first dreaming up Humm, I wanted the logo to feel like more than a symbol. I wanted it to carry the heart of what we were building. So it wasn’t a designer’s brief or a long creative process. It simply began with a scribble in my notebook.
“Humm” in Hindi means us. That word felt like the soul of what we were building, a community, a sense of belonging. And the “M”? I drew the dots as two people holding hands, standing side by side. A simple sketch to remind us that care only works when we show up for each other.
But the logo also speaks to something much deeper. From the very beginning, our values have been anchored in one belief: no one should ever have to walk through life feeling alone. Not when it comes to their health. Not in moments of emotional turmoil. Not in the quiet, everyday struggles that are so integral to our wellbeing.
At Humm Care, empathy is our starting point. We listen before we act. We create spaces where people feel safe to be vulnerable, because true care begins with being understood.
Equity and Inclusivity is our commitment. Access to healthcare shouldn't be a privilege but a human right. That means showing up not just for those at the centre of the system, but for those who are too often left at the margins. And our work here has shown us there are so many who remain unrepresented, people navigating stigma, those without access to traditional healthcare, those whose needs don’t fit into neat boxes that the system would like them to.
And inclusivity is at our core. Care has no gender and age. Who doesn't deserve it? Whether it’s a young professional struggling silently with anxiety, a mother balancing caregiving with her own health, someone from the LGBTQ+ community seeking affirming support, or someone looking to caregiving support or elderly care for their family members - everyone deserves to feel seen, respected, and cared for.
That’s why the “M” matters so much to me. Those two dots holding hands are a promise or community and togetherness. A reminder that care only works when we stand side by side, when we refuse to let anyone feel invisible, when we say, “you belong here.”
That doodle I drew in my notebook many years ago became the logo you see today. It's a daily reminder that Humm Care is not about me, or even just our team - it’s always been about US.
