Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 inaugurated at ICAR–IIHR, Bengaluru The ICAR–Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR), Bengaluru, inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 on 27 October 2025 with the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.” The programme began with a welcome by Dr. A. Nagaraja, Principal Scientist & Vigilance Officer, followed by an inspiring keynote on “Role of Preventive Vigilance – Leveraging Technology” by Shri D. P. Nagendra Kumar, IRS (Retd.), former Member, GST, CBIC. Dr. Ezhilmathi K, IRS, Commissioner, GST Appeals, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour and emphasized personal integrity and moral courage in public service. Dr. T. K. Behera, Director, ICAR–IIHR, highlighted the institute’s continued commitment to ethical governance and transparency. 🌿 Integrating Science with Practice: Advancing Horticulture through Capacity Building 🌿 As part of the DST-Vigyandhara-4305 Project (PI: Dr. Ramya H R), two impactful programmes were successfully conducted at Panasachowdanahalli Village, Chikkaballapura — 1.An Off-Campus Training on “Improved Production Technologies of Flower Crops” 2. Canopy Architecture Management in Mango. #floriculturetraining focused on improved crop production practices, integrated pest and disease management, and efficient post-harvest handling — promoting the adoption of IIHR-developed innovations for enhanced productivity, quality, and profitability. #mangocanopyarchtecturemanagement- where participants gained practical understanding of training, pruning, and thinning techniques to optimize tree health, light interception, and yield — reinforcing the importance of good agricultural practices for sustainable production. ICAR Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (ICAR-IIHR), Bengaluru, organized a Special Krishi Programme on 11th October 2025, coinciding with the nationwide live telecast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s launch of two major national initiatives — the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (₹24,000 crore) and the Mission for #Aatmanirbharta in #Pulses (₹11,440 crore) from NASC, New Delhi. The event at ICAR–IIHR brought together 198 farmers (110 women and 88 men) from Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, and Chikkaballapura districts. The programme featured interactive sessions on: #PMDDKY and flagship agricultural schemes National Pest Surveillance System (#NPSS) and Farmers’ Grievance Redressal Portal National Mission on Natural Farming (#NMNF) Improved horticultural varieties and sustainable production technologies developed at IIHR Farmers also participated in hands-on demonstrations at the Mushroom Production Laboratory and field and nursery units, gaining valuable exposure to innovative cultivation practices and technologies.
