Description This study analyzes the current Pedelec (e-bike) market from both engineering and economic perspectives, identifying innovation opportunities in material sourcing, electric drive integration, and production efficiency. It will evaluate local and international suppliers for motors, BMS units, and lightweight frames, as well as assess contract manufacturing feasibility in India for domestic and export markets. Students will engage in prototype evaluation, cost optimization studies, and market readiness assessments. Outcomes include a comprehensive business model and design framework to support DriveDock Groups’ ongoing initiatives in EV and micro-mobility domains, aligning with India’s growing position in sustainable manufacturing and export-driven innovation. Objectives Conduct a feasibility study of the Pedelec market in India and global regions. Identify key sourcing opportunities for motors, BMS, and lightweight materials. Explore and propose new production innovations for efficient assembly and scalability. Develop best sourcing and supply chain practices for cost reduction and component standardization. Provide recommendations for integration into DriveDock Groups’ existing EV ecosystem. Work-student Position 0/12 12 open Work Students will support the R&D team in analyzing the Pedelec (Pedal Electric Cycle) market and assist in developing innovative approaches for sourcing and production. Responsibilities include contribution to research on electric drive systems, motor and battery efficiency improvements, local supplier mapping, and design optimization for sustainable manufacturing. Students will be actively involved in concept validation, prototype evaluation, cost analysis, and preparing technical documentation under the guidance of industry mentors. This role will provide exposure to real-world product development within the EV and micro-mobility sector.
