Why don’t agencies in India talk about pitch fees? They spend hundreds of hours on every single pitch. Yet, it's almost an unspoken rule—no one asks to be paid for it. Early in my career, I tried. I pushed a CMO of a global brand to pay us a modest pitch fee. We made our case. He was professional, polite, but firm: No. As he left, he put a hand on my shoulder, smirked, and said, "Very nice try, Aman." That smirk told me everything: 1️⃣ He knew it was a buyer’s market. Agencies would keep showing up, pitch fee or not. 2️⃣ He knew agencies never united to demand it. 3️⃣ He could see it in my eyes—I’d give up too, fearing the loss of an opportunity. And I did. But years later, I still think about that moment. The truth is, brands won’t change unless agencies do. #agencies #pitch #brands

Decades after having moved away from demographic segmentation to psychographic segmentation, many brands seem to be going back to demographic segmentations – with its obvious pitfalls. GenZ is clearly a demographic segment - people born between 1996 and 2010. So when brands just use GenZ slang as a surrogate for GenZ insights, its not going to get them too far. There is no escaping the need for a deep understanding of them, by cohort and by category - else be prepared to fail the vibe check by these folks. No cap! #GenZ #ConsumerInsight

Top media / content consumption trends in 2025, 1) OTT platforms like Netflix will push the ad based model for consumers a lot more. Should rise to 25% of total consumers from 10-15% of total consumers as of today. 2) OTT platforms will focus on sports and live entertainments - think of IPL, NBA, NFL, concerts, stand up comic shows, etc to drive platform engagement. 3) Media houses and movie production houses are not doing well. Expect mergers and buyouts in this sector. 4) The future of search will shift more towards YouTube and TikTok (in the US). Gen Z’s preferred search channel is YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. 5) The continued rise of user generated content. There will be a distinct shift towards nano-influencers. Thoughts? Only 13% of brands are mobile-first, and most of them agree that mobile apps are central to customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. 71% of respondents rated their mobile app as one of the most important channels for new customer acquisition and driving business growth. Several Challenges include high uninstall rates (58.93%), retention, user experience, acquisition, accurate attribution, and ROI realization. Also, 73% of respondents allocate between 25-75% of their marketing budgets for mobile app growth. Key strategies for mobile app success include optimizing digital customer journeys, leveraging data for deeper engagement, maximizing customer lifetime value, focusing on personalized experiences, and adapting to the evolving landscape with new channels and technologies. 83% of consumers value knowing their devices secure their information and 60% are happy with the app's privacy and security measures.
