#ICES2025 Session 21: Transforming Territories: CSR for Ecological and Community Stewardship brought together leaders redefining how CSR drives sustainability, ecological balance, and resilient communities. Moderated by Mr. Manish Dabkara, Chairman & Managing Director, EKI Energy Services Ltd., the session explored how companies are integrating carbon markets, SDGs, and community stewardship into long-term sustainability strategies. Ms. Sakshi G., Senior Manager, EkoLife Foundation, shared how sustainable farming innovations have reduced water use by 30% and doubled farmer incomes. Ms. Leena Dandekar, Founder & Chairperson, Raintree Foundation, emphasized long-term, landscape-based climate action and the need to move beyond location-bound CSR. Ms. Niyati Sareen, Project Director – Water and Education, Hinduja Foundation, highlighted the Pantnagar Springshed initiative, restoring water tables and livelihoods—recognized by the UN CEO Water Mandate. Mr. Suhas Joshi, India Carbon Initiative Lead, Bayer, discussed reducing methane emissions in rice farming through carbon credits and farmer-first business models. The National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) was launched on 4th January 2023 by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 Crore with an aim to make India a Global Hub for Green Hydrogen production, usage and its derivatives. India’s goal to become Aatmanirbhar and this initiative encourages clean energy transition. The Mission will lead to significant decarbonization of the economy, reduced dependence on fossil fuel imports, and enable India to become market leadership in GH2.   Under the Mission, along with many other initiatives, pilot projects in transportation sector have been initiated for replacing fossil fuels and fossil fuel-based feedstock with GH2 and its derivatives. MNRE has issued scheme guidelines for the pilot projects under which the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways - India (MoRTH) and Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) as a Scheme Implementing Agencies (SIAs) will be monitoring and implementing agencies for transportation sector.
