Tuberculosis is a persistent public health challenge in India. Frontline health care workers play a big part in TB screening and referral: in some areas of India, they serve as the initial point of care for two-thirds of individuals with TB symptoms. The “Take Charge Against TB” project, a public health initiative of Johnson & Johnson in collaboration with PATH and TB Alert India (TBAI), and in strategic partnership with India’s National TB Elimination Programme, employed a powerful dual activation strategy to empower both frontline health care workers and youth volunteers to tackle TB underdiagnosis in urban India’s poor communities. The project provided nearly 1,600 frontline health care workers with tailored training on TB screening, stigma reduction, and community trust, and mobilized 279 youth volunteers as champions of change. Overall, the initiative reached 16 million people across Delhi, Hyderabad, and Pune, drove 1.8 million self-screenings, and linked nearly 54,000 individuals to free testing, demonstrating how community-driven solutions can accelerate early diagnosis and care. #ICES2025 #InSession   Session 1: Co-Creating Care: CSR and Government Synergies for Better Public Health brought together leaders driving impactful healthcare collaborations. Dr Kirti Chadha set the context for how CSR–government partnerships can transform public health delivery. Dr. Deepak Prabhu Matti (he/him) highlighted Malegaon’s success story strengthening immunization systems, improving healthcare infrastructure, and reducing maternal & infant mortality through close government collaboration. Mr. Vinay Madan shared how CDSL, in partnership with NSCD, supports subsidized surgeries and deploys medical vehicles in underserved districts. Ms. Megha Vaid emphasized taking primary healthcare to rural communities through mobile units, infrastructure upgrades, and staff skilling. Mr. Shourya Reddy Singareddy underscored enabling capable government doctors with infrastructure, clean water, ambulances, and equipment—while addressing sustainability challenges. Mr. Narendra Kumar highlighted the role of corporates and NGOs in last-mile healthcare reducing cataract backlogs for truckers and supporting children’s heart surgeries through holistic interventions. Together, the speakers reinforced that co-created healthcare ecosystems where corporates, government, and civil society unite are key to achieving universal, equitable, and resilient health systems in India. On 30th September 2025, Caritas Hospital Trust and the World Health Organization (WHO) signed a Project Collaboration Agreement (PCA) at the WHO Country Office in Delhi. The agreement was signed by Dr. Roderico H Ofrin, WHO Representative to India, and Rev. Dr. Binu Kunnath, Director & CEO of Caritas Hospital and Institute of Health Sciences, Kottayam. This collaboration aims to strengthen public health in Kerala through technical support and innovative initiatives.
