In a landmark step towards its digitalization journey FAO has launched its first ever HR Avatar, powered by an Artificial Intelligence “chatbot” to serve as a virtual HR colleague for employees around the world – Ms FAO AI. The multilingual service, available worldwide, supports FAO employees in making informed decisions and answering questions, and makes the Organization’s existing portfolio of services more reliable, inclusive and accessible, ultimately enabling the delivery of better results for Members and the people FAO serves. “Ms FAO AI was not designed as a robot, but as a companion. Famine conditions confirmed in Sudan’s El Fasher and Kadugli as hunger and malnutrition ease where conflict subsides. The latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC)* Special Snapshot confirms that by September 2025, acute food insecurity had slightly improved with an estimated 21.2 million – 45 percent of the population – facing high levels of acute food insecurity (IPC3+). An estimated 3.4 million people are no longer facing crisis levels of hunger (IPC3+) compared to the previous analysis (December 2024 to May 2025). FAO, World Food Programme, UNICEF call for an end to hostilities and safe, unimpeded and sustained humanitarian access.
