The Master in DESIGN FOR FOOD is the new Specializing Master managed by POLI.design, the Consortium Company of Politecnico di Milano specialized in post-graduate training that offers University Masters and Advanced Training Courses. The Master in DESIGN FOR FOOD recognizes how the contemporary food sector, that is already characterized by experimentation and innovation and design-oriented experiences, is increasingly looking for a transversal expertise, capable of strategically integrating design, food engineering, technological, gastronomical skills. For this reason the Master in DESIGN FOR FOOD combines the design and food engineering competences, characteristic of the Politecnico di Milano, with topics and focuses in the area of food connected with humanities, gastronomic sciences and food technologies.

“I learned to listen deeply and turn small questions into meaningful design explorations.” We met Jung Chun Liu (Pyper), alumna of the Specializing Master Design For Food - POLI.design Politecnico di Milano, to learn more about her training experience. Throughout the program, Pyper developed key skills in service design, prototyping, and strategic thinking—but it was her internship that took things even further. She worked with a company known for its gluten-free products, contributing to the "Ameliate Breeding" project: an innovative blend of crop research, storytelling, and design for future food systems. This hands-on experience is just one example of how the Master connects students with the real-world challenges of food innovation—through meaningful, design-led partnerships. Pyper continues to grow her own project, "The Picky Eater Clinic", a playful sensory experiment that helps people rebuild their relationship with foods they think they hate. Design Thinking Breaks into the Food Industry! Our former student, Gianmarco Batori, shares his journey at Master Design For Food - POLI.design Politecnico di Milano. Gianmarco is an interior designer. He joined our 15-month program to explore how innovation and design can reshape the food industry. During the course, he learned how to manage emerging technologies and apply design thinking to develop sustainable solutions in the agri-food sector. Over the past months, our students explored the future of food through hands-on experiences, collaborations with local producers, and innovative projects that reimagine how we grow, share, and consume food.
