The Erasmus+ Account4GreenEco project will celebrate its Final Conference – Bridging practice and university for advancing sustainability accounting education, on November 13, 2025, from 12.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. (CET). This high-impact event will bring together leading voices from academia, major corporations, Big Four firms, and policy-making bodies to explore the future of sustainability accounting and its integration into education and practice. Through engaging roundtables and keynote sessions, we’ll examine how sustainability accounting can support the EU’s green transition and strengthen the connection between higher education and real-world business needs. The conference will also unveil the Account4GreenEco online learning platform, designed to promote the inclusion of sustainability accounting in business and accounting curricula across the European Higher Education Area. On Wednesday, 29 October, our guest speaker will be Flora BELLONE, Faculty at Université Côte d'Azur (UCA), a permanent researcher at GREDEG-CNRS, and a affiliated researcher at OFCE SciencePo. 📑 This paper examines the unintended consequences of the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) that was adopted in 2015. While BEPS was designed to curb profit shifting by large multinational enterprises (MNEs), we hypothesize that it may have facilitated the adoption of corporate tax avoidance (CTA) practices by smaller MNEs. We test this research hypothesis on a panel dataset of French MNEs covering the 2012–2021 period. Our main findings are as follows: First, we show that firms with a turnover below the threshold of 750 million euros, a critical size threshold in the BEPS regulatory framework, have increased their likelihood to be settled in a tax heaven post-BEPS. Second, we show that this effect is stronger for small MNEs which do not exhibit financial shareholders and/or consolidated accounts. UniTrento DEM continua a crescere! Riabbracciamo con enorme piacere la dottoressa Karoline Bax! Karoline ha conseguito il dottorato all'Università di Trento (35° ciclo, 2019–2023). Dopo il dottorato è stata postdoc per tre anni alla Technische Universität München (Technical University of Munich), Germania. Felice di essere tornata a Trento, la sua attività di ricerca si concentra su finanza sostenibile ed ESG. Nella sua ricerca analizza come gli investitori valutano i rischi climatici delle imprese e come l’analisi testuale e l’intelligenza artificiale possano migliorare l’identificazione dei profili di rischio. Inoltre, studia la dipendenza degli investitori dai rating ESG, dai punteggi di rischio climatico e dalle disclosure aziendali, nonché le metodologie alla base della valutazione ESG e i potenziali rischi di greenwashing. Insieme a un collega ha vinto la Lamfalussy Fellowship 2024 della Banca Centrale Europea. La sua ricerca è stata pubblicata su riviste scientifiche internazionali peer-reviewed, tra cui Journal of Financial Stability, International Review of Financial Analysis e Finance Research Letters. Karoline obtained her PhD at the University of Trento (35th cycle, 2019–2023). After completing her doctorate, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher for about three years at the Technical University of Munich, Germany. She is happy to have returned to Trento, where her research focuses on sustainable finance and ESG. Her work examines how investors assess firms’ climate risks and how textual analysis and artificial intelligence can improve the identification of risk profiles. She also studies investors’ reliance on ESG ratings, climate risk scores, and corporate disclosures, as well as the methodologies underlying ESG assessment and the potential risks of greenwashing. Together with a colleague, she was awarded the 2024 Lamfalussy Fellowship by the European Central Bank.
