Deloitte’s Private Company Outlook: Family Enterprise survey is out! 📣🙌 Lots of interesting insights on the strategic priorities for family businesses.   What caught my eye? 👀 While many leaders of family owned businesses think their organization is ready for succession, the next generation might not be as eager or ready.    Although nearly half of the 100 U.S. family business leaders surveyed feel prepared for leadership succession, many organizations face significant challenges. To prepare future leaders, family enterprises are focusing on formal education (52%), on-the-job training (48%), and mentorship (45%) to develop future-ready leaders.   But the challenge isn’t just about skills; it's about interest. The survey cited a lack of interest from the next generation (37%) – echoing Deloitte's Gen Z and Millennial Survey, which shows only 6% are primarily driven to reach senior leadership. Unclear selection criteria (31%) and leadership skill gaps (31%) further complicate matters, according to our Outlook.   As executives at privately owned companies look to secure the long-term stability and growth of their organizations, understanding succession dynamics is crucial. We’re halfway through 2025, and agentic is still dominating the conversation, but the story is still unfolding.     As the focus shifts from isolated use cases to systemic changes, organizations are reflecting on how to integrate digital workforces with human teams to fundamentally reimagine how work gets done.     Meanwhile, model capabilities are advancing, and the rise of multimodal models unlocks new use cases, which is pushing the frontier of what’s possible across major industries with a BIG emphasis on infrastructure.     From data centers to power grids, organizations are putting their chips in on speed, scale, and the demands of an AI-enabled future.     Looking toward the second half of 2025, the momentum isn’t slowing down at all – it's building.     What AI trends are you watching as we get into the second half of the year?

One of our core focus areas in Deloitte's Human Capital offering is Humans with Machines. We recognize that the introduction, adoption, and radical transformation driven by AI in the commercial sector will only succeed if we redesign work, roles, organizational structures, and cultures to unlock value in a trustworthy and human-centered way. If we don’t—well, we’re already seeing examples in the news where companies are achieving only 5% to 8% productivity improvements. This isn’t new. As Frederick Winslow Taylor—the father of what I like to call “productivity studies”—demonstrated back in 1911, simply adding a tool yields only marginal gains at best. That’s why it was exciting to see, over the past year, how clients are beginning to recognize the synergies between IT (agentic design) and HR. But I believe we’re just at the beginning of this transformation in Human Resources. Imagine the role of HR when our workforce includes true humanoid robotics.
