CARE Jordan and Institute for Family Health/Noor Alhussein Foundation Host German Embassy Visit on GFFO-Supported Protection Initiatives With the support of the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), CARE Jordan and the Institute for Family Health/Noor Alhussein Foundation are expanding access to integrated protection services for some of the most vulnerable communities in Jordan. These services combine case management, psychosocial support, referrals, cash assistance, and gender-based violence prevention to strengthen safety, dignity, and resilience. On 23 September 2025, colleagues from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Amman joined CARE and IFH to learn more about the project’s progress and impact. Since its launch, the initiative has reached over 10,000 refugees and vulnerable Jordanians across Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, Zarqa, and Azraq — ensuring that individuals and families facing crisis have access to lifesaving protection and pathways to rebuild their lives. The visit underscored how strategic donor investment, local expertise, and strong partnerships can create scalable, sustainable impact. CARE is devastated by the killing of our partner colleague, Tasneem Shublaq, 27, who was pregnant when she and her two young children were killed in an airstrike in #Gaza City. Tasneem was a psychologist with our partner, Juzoor, supporting displaced children who had lost homes, parents, and friends. Despite the risks, she chose to stay and serve her community. This tragedy, alongside the destruction of the Al-Samer Medical Center run by our partner the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS), is a stark reminder of the enormous sacrifices humanitarian workers make every day in Gaza. Two separate Israeli airstrikes in #GazaCity killed pregnant aid worker and her two infant children, and destroyed healthcare center run by Palestinian Medical Relief Society, a CARE partner. CARE Jordan was honored to welcome Her Excellency Andrea Kucerova, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Jordan, to our Community Center in Azraq Camp for Refugees.   Her Excellency met with Syrian refugees, listening to their stories of resilience as well as the challenges they continue to face in light of reduced funding for the Syria response. She was also briefed by the Head of Azraq Camp from the Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate and the Head of Field Office from UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, who shared updates on the services provided and the pressing needs in the camp. We sincerely thank them for their valuable engagement.   The visit also highlighted the Czech-funded project implemented by CARE, where Her Excellency was able to see firsthand the positive impact of this partnership.   We extend our deep appreciation to Her Excellency and the Government of the Czech Republic for their continued support and steadfast commitment to standing with refugees in Jordan. The recently released UN Commission of Inquiry (COI) report confirms what our teams are witnessing every day: that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. With every day that passes, more lives are lost in Gaza while dangerous new precedents take root that affect us all. This is a defining moment for Canada and for the global community. We will be remembered for how we choose to respond. We continue to call for international humanitarian law to be enforced: ❗There must be an immediate, lasting ceasefire. ❗Aid must be let into Gaza and distributed freely. ❗Direct and indirect arms to Israel must stop. The United Nations has confirmed what so many have been saying: #Genocide IS happening in #Gaza.   CARE International joins over 20 international organizations to demand world leaders STOP THIS NOW.   ❗ 65,000 people have been killed, including 20,000 children. ❗ Survivors are so traumatized that some children say they want to join their parents in heaven. ❗Over half a million people are starving. Families eat animal food or boil leaves to stay alive.   Together with Palestinians - some of whom are our colleagues and our partners - these horrifying facts, stories, images have been shared over and over again. But they have been ignored.   As UN member states gather in New York we urge them to step up to their obligations, and finally ACT. To protect the lives of innocent people, instead of watching them be killed or waste away.   History will judge this moment as a test of humanity. Right now, we are failing.   It is too late for many, but not too late for so many more.
