This weekend at the Fortune Global Forum in Riyadh, I joined Fortune's Jeremy Kahn alongside global leaders Noosheen Hashemi, Fabio Kuhn and Kami Viswanathan for a conversation on what it truly takes to scale AI for real-world impact. We discussed why scaling AI is not about technology, it’s about embedding AI into core business operations. At NTT DATA, Inc., we’ve seen the greatest impact when AI powers core processes: for example product engineering and supply chain in manufacturing, underwriting and claims processing in insurance, and financial crime and SMB lending in banking. These are the areas where AI moves beyond experimentation to deliver measurable business outcomes. But scaling responsibly requires more than ambition. It demands stringent domain prioritization, a clear roadmap, strong governance, change management, flexible tooling and platforms, new business and IT operating models, and data readiness. We explored the strategic, ethical, and legal challenges of AI adoption, and how organizations can move from fragmented pilots to enterprise-wide capability with guardrails, transparency, and accountability built in. The imperative is clear: innovate boldly, govern wisely. AI’s future will be defined by those who combine speed with responsibility, embedding sustainability and human-centric design into every layer of innovation.
