Awakening Women’s Potential in the Energy and Extractives sectors

About us

The Association for Women in Energy and Extractives in Kenya (AWEIK) empowers women to achieve equitable professional and economic growth in Kenya’s energy and extractives industry. Founded in 2016, AWEIK champions inclusivity by promoting women’s active participation across the energy and extractives sector value chains through policy advocacy and lobbying, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and business development services. We are deeply committed to empowering women impacted by the extractives industry through targeted interventions such as access to markets, community empowerment, and strategic partnerships. By fostering meaningful relationships and sharing knowledge and experiences, AWEIK amplifies women’s voices and drives inclusive, sustainable development within the sector.
