The European Parliament has just adopted new, stricter rules to curb microplastic pollution, targeting one of the biggest hidden sources: industrial #plasticpellets AKA “mermaid’s tears” Every year, between 52 000 and 180 000 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝘀 of these #pellets are lost across the EU, ending up in our seas and soils... (It's a huge mess!!) BUT, under this new regulation: ✅ Transporters & producers will now be held accountable for pellet losses. ✅ Pellets must be properly packaged and labeled. ✅ In case of spills, companies must alert authorities within 30 days. ✅ Larger operators will have to obtain a certification to prove compliance. For me, it’s a milestone. Maybe you've never heard of it but at Clean Something For Nothing™, we’ve witnessed the silent damage these tiny plastics cause during #beachcleanups, and how painful they are to collect. This rule gives genuine hope for cleaner seas and collective accountability. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘀 We'd like to introduce you to 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘆, 63 years old, from Douar Lakwash, Morocco 🇲🇦. He's been a #CSFN active user since 2023 and we'd love you to meet him too: He started planting trees🌲 to protect and restore his local environment in 2013 (on very dry soil) and 4 years later, he got into #litter picking as a routine. Abdellah doesn't write much on his posts, but the content he produces is #authentic and talks for itself... Have a look, he's one of those persons you wish more people could know to get inspired and be full of hope. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 generates 𝟭𝟴𝟲,𝟱 𝗸𝗴 of packaging waste a year. 40% of plastics in the EU are for #packaging Half of #MarineLitter comes from it :( It’s everywhere.... Around our food🥫 our drinks🥤 our daily life We unwrap it, then throw it and forget it (out of sight, out of mind...) But nature never forgets 2 months ago, #GlobalPlasticTreaty talks in Geneva failed No deal 😟 It was blocked by countries protecting short-term interests... For Europe, it means more waste to fight with For small islands, this means way more plastic in their oceans And for all of us, it means the clock keeps ticking (whether we believe it or not) 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝘂𝗽 💪 We cannot wait for treaties or politicians to save us... Seriously! We should see the power of citizen-action (each one of us has it!) Each cleanup proves how powerful #CSR collaborations can be 🧭 simple actions creating real change. We love seeing companies like Ogier walking the talk. It may seem like a drop in the ocean, but 7000+ cleanups across 83 countries and 882 000 kg collected through the #CSFN app, say otherwise🌍. When companies, citizens, and communities unite, restoring nature becomes simple, fun and essential 💚

Making a difference, one piece of trash at a time! A group of dedicated colleagues recently joined forces with Clean Something For Nothing™ to take action and clean up the green areas around our office in Findel. And we're shocked by what they found! 🤯 31 kg of trash overall, including 4.5 kg fully recyclable, 26.5 kg of non-recyclable waste that would have otherwise been left to pollute for years and years to come, and around 1,350 ugly cigarette butts. A powerful reminder of what we can achieve together and why initiatives like this remain so important for our surroundings.
